Malevolence vs. Skitterbots Unbound Ailments

For Righteous Fire inquisitor, I see some people running Malevolence and others run Skitterbots with Unbound Ailments linked. I run Malevolence.

Is Skitterbots + Unbound Ailments better or is there a certain threshold that must be crossed before Skitterbots is better?

20/20 Skitterbots + 20/20 Unbound Ailments = 25.95% increased damage taken, damage bonus not applicable to enemies in range of minion

20/20 Malevolence = 20% more damage

The net value from Skitterbots will decrease the more increased damage taken you have. Furthermore, Malevolence will scale with % increased effect of non-curse Ailments. You'll have to check your unique situation on PoB. It won't take much scaling before Malevolence provides more benefit. Malevolence requires more mana reservation but only 1 jewel socket.

Skitterbots is entry level until people get enlighten and/or helm enchant. Malevolence will always beat out skitterbots in the end even with lvl 6 awakened unbound ailments plus it has duration which is helpful.

another thing to consider is that Malevolence opens an opportunity to use related Watcher's eye modifiers.

Skitterbots provide chill too.
I think it's a choice that either way has some benefits.

Skitterbots might also be helping your firetrap dmg if your using. POB would be a very quick check. I would guess Malev is better for dmg in most cases if you can only fit one, but chill is also good
