VRAM usage gradual increase

Current spec
i7 5930k
64gb RAM
2080TI (Drivers updated)

As the title suggests the game gradually uses more and more VRAM - on starting the game it sits around 3gb taken up on the GPU however this goes all the way up to 6.6gb used and then starts to cause issues such as crashing the game/infinite loading screens. I have to alt-f4 the game and start it again for me to be able to start playing again, which refreshes the VRAM use.

Already tried-
Reverting settings to default in NVidia Control
Lowering all textures and settings in the options
Multiple restarts of the PC have happened too

when using Vulcan, texture HAS to be set to MEDIUM or else VRAM use will go crazy and PoE will crash.

Naw, the suggestion to use Medium was only if you had video cards with 3GB's or less VRAM. Op has at least 8GB's.

I suggest trying to revert to 472.12 display drivers (clean/advanced install, not device manager).
Computer specifications:
Windows 10 Pro x64 | AMD Ryzen 5800X3D | ASUS Crosshair VIII Hero (WiFi) Motherboard | 32GB 3600MHz RAM | MSI Geforce 1070Ti Gamer | Corsair AX 760watt PSU | Samsung 860 Pro 512GB SSD & Crucial MX 500 4TB SSD's
