Tainted Mythic Orb not usable on champion kite shield

When I try to use a tainted mythic orb on a champion kite shield base I get the message "Item cannot increase in rarity". The champion kite shield base only has Aegis Aurora, which has no drop restrictions, on the unique table so unless I am misunderstanding how the orb works I don't see why it would be failing.

Did you make sure the base item has a sufficiently high enough ilvl for it to actually become the unique? Did the same just now with an Occultist's Vestment above ilvl 62 so it could only turn into a Shavronne's Wrappings and it worked. It still bricked but I could use the orb, even though the base item itself has only one unique item variant.

Yes, the base is ilvl 72, which is above Aegis Aurora's level requirement of 62.

I'm getting the same thing with a Vaal Rapier in an attempt to turn it into a Paradoxica - I think this might actually be intended, though. Paradoxica cannot be chanced. Mythic Orbs may obey normal chance orb restrictions, meaning you can't Orb into something that is League-restricted.

I'm getting the same error message with a pair of Silk Gloves. They should be able to turn into Asenath's Gentle Touch.

Same issue with silk gloves. Mine are ilvl 70+ and not working

I've tried to use my tainted mythic orbs on:
normal quality corrupted Prophecy Wands 68-72 item level
Rare quality corrupted Prophecy Wands 68-73 item levels


i get the same message for all 6 wands I've tried..
"Item cannot increase in rarity."
is this a bug?

Asenath's gloves are League Specific. Might have to be in Legion to use it on those.

After today's patch (3.16.0b) I was able to use the mythic orb without getting the error.
