Need technical explaination for the use of Basalt and Sibnite Flasks

Hi,

So yeah, as I never did maps in this game nor passed lvl60 despite playing since 2013, so I have some holes in my technical understanding of some mechanics.

What would be the point on using a Basalt Flasks over, say, a Saturated life/mana flask of Iron Skin that give, 40-60% Armor (I still have some higher flasks with 90+% armor on them from before) ? Same thing with Quicksilver flasks that have Flagellant of course.
Same question with the Sibnite flask over a "of Reflexes" flask, even if the smoke cloud can be useful (didn't use the smoke mines or other smoke cloud stuff since like 2016...).

It may have to do with duration, but now we have this Enduring mod that do not stop flask effect when non reserved mana/life is not enough depleted to gain all the regen. It may be for build purpose but I'm not seeing one that would prefer a 40/60 charges over a say, a Chemist, or Saturated, that would give more time of more increase.

Am I missing something ?

I have searched but no topics that gave me an answer to this question, and I want to know if I miss something that could be useful for me.

Unless there are legacy variant, Basalt flasks no longer provider 15% reduced Physical Damage Taken, and rather gives 20% More armour. Same goes for Stibnite, that gives 20% More Evasion rather than 100% Increased.

Of course, More EVA/AR can't compare with Increased EVA/AR, so Stibnite can be seen as a buff were it not that now can be used only 1 time instead of 3. Basalt got the worst since you are basically trading away almost 4 EC for 20% more Armour. Since people could argue Determination provides the same bonus, GGG made sure that Determination now provides flat AR, so Basalt is the only thing that can allow an AR to play a Of Rust map... or at least ease the nerf.

Both Stibnite and most importantly Basalt have stopped being the powerhouse they were before 3.15. A legacy Granite of Iron Skin may still compete with a nowadays Basalt (outside the Of Rust environment). Similiarly, a legacy Jade of Reflexes can compete with a Stibnite - even more now that Blind only gives 20% Less accuracy rather than 50%.

Mostly, however, it boils down on Stibnite and Basalt being (or going to be) the only sources of More EVA/AR in the game
well u have to understand the differences in "increased" and "more" in PoE.

There are alot sources of "increased" that are additive and therefore are less impactful, the more u got. (diminishing returns)

The "more" affixes however are multiplicative, meaning if u have a lot of "increased" armour/evasion it will multiply that amount by 20%.

So Basalt and Stibnite Flasks are good for builds that have alot of "increased" stats already invested in.
Btw. u can also get the "Iron Skin" or "of Reflexes" Suffixes on those Flasks, combining both.
Oh jeez thank you both. Clear and short explaination. Very useful.

I understand so much better now.

So I can safely assume that the pseudo equation is something like :
final value = ((base + flat bonuses) x (1 + SUM(Increase bonuses)%)) x More bonus

That's interesting. And no for the question, I threw out all the old flasks because I figured out that mechanics having changed, they would be "useless". I kept the few life and mana flasks I had for new chars however so I can run without worrying about finding new ones. Without even knowing that the mods had been lowered.
