Bane Damage in Group Settings

Good morning, I have a question regarding the interactions of Bane and how it scales its damage/duration with curses linked to it. What I could find was an old post from Bek stating auras will override self cast curses if they are in range.


Scenario: I'm playing Occultist - Bane , party member is playing Death's Aura Occultist using Blasphemy.


If curses are already applied to a monster via a party member running Blasphemy (in melee range at all times) does my Bane deal full damage/duration at the moment of my casting of Bane even though the curses wouldn't be applied due to Blasphemy?

If it's a competition between aura and non aura curse, the aura will win. If it's between two aura curses, the closest one will win.

Bane is not a curse. It is a spell that triggers curses (you do not apply the curse, but the aura will still take precedence). More specifically it create a ground effect that applies the curses to enemies inside the AoE.

The moment you hit your curse limit is the one in effect. However, due to the aura the very next frame rate your party member's curse limit reigns. I've never tested this myself, but you should get full benefit or possibly -1 (or however many are overruled by your partner) curse benefit from Bane.

Edit: Not sure why I thought it applies a ground effect. I just applies a debuff. Though there is a ground effect...bah Idk.

Ah, that makes sense. The main concern is that I would loose damage on bane since it wouldn't be able to apply the curse itself with the auras in melee.

But it sounds like we won't be hampering my damage by running these builds together.
