Strike Range Changes

This was a real punch in the face. The "changes" here, can only be viewed as a direct nerf to an already inferior playstyle/archetype. To flat out remove strike range on the skills that need it the most, and replace it with VERY MINOR mods on items is a very bad move.

What you should've done, is just to flat out double or triple every single strike range modifier on the strike skill gems. Some strike skills, like Wild Strike (example) are just unplayable without a decent investment into strike range.

Sorry, GGG - but this change is just bad in every single way. My jaw actually dropped reading this. The passive tree nodes HAVE to be at least double of what they used to be - and they have to be additions to offensive nodes, so you don't have to go out of your way to get them.
Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.

GGG hate melee so dont play with this !!!.
They said you are going to be seeing more on passive nodes and masteries instead of gaining flat on the skill.

Edit - I misread, you did bring that up. But lets wait and see anyway. Maybe there will far more chances to upgrade it further.

Lets hope so. And lets hope we're not talking about special melee range clusters you have to sacrifice damage or defense to get. I can already see they've introduced this to the new mastery system, and you have to sacrifice spell suppression, crit multiplier or other very important stats to get melee range.

Maybe I'm just being pessimistic here.

yep..

out of ALL skills out there someone decided that the pesky Strike Skills (that are junk by design in modern game anyway) are too good because they are STILL able to hit things?

it doesnt make any sense to take +4 range out and put it somewhere on the passive tree noone goes because all nodes there are garbage

i genuinely feel sorry for any new player picking a Claw and a Strike Skill to play in 3.16. the experience is going to be HORRID

btw meanwhile Toxic Rain, FR totems, SST.. pretty much exactly everything just got slightly tickled

the new passive tree looks interesting but the skill meta is going to be EXACTLY the same as in 3.15. kinda boring.
My Frost Blade Gladiator just got deleted. Good job.
I invest quite heavily into it, just to get to 1mln., and defenses was alright, but nothing special. Gladiator was always a heavy invest, and DMG always lacking in order to get solid defenses.
And you pretty much nerfed all melee skill big time.

Can you tell me "The following Skills no longer have “+0-2 to Melee Strike Range”: Dominating Blow, Double Strike, Vaal Double Strike, Dual Strike, Elemental Hit, Frenzy, Infernal Blow, Pestilent Strike, Puncture, Riposte, Static Strike, Smite, Viper Strike, and Wild Strike.
Boneshatter now has “+2 to Melee Strike Range” at all gem levels (previously +0 at gem level 1, up to +2 at gem level 20).
Glacial Hammer, Vaal Glacial Hammer, Heavy Strike and Vigilant Strike now have “+2 to Melee Strike Range” at all gem levels (previously +2 at gem level 1, up to +4 at gem level 20)."

Which ones of this skills deserved a nerf? I will talk for the ones that i know and try - Double Strike on Gladiator - garbage. Heavy Strike - garbage. Infernal Blow - garbage. Frenzy - garbage. Puncture - garbage. Riposte - garbage. Viper Strike - garbage.
Pestilent Strike - garbage.

e1337donkey, you do realize that you need to invest into the tree, which means you are going to waste passives for something you have previously. How hard is that to get ?

This will be my last day in this game. Bye POE, won't be missed. ESO is waiting me with whole bunch of options for an actual melee character ...

P.P. The actual and real melee skill in the game - Heavy Strike and Double Strike, as well as Cleave, has been terrible for long, long time now. And they nerf them even more. :D
Gladiator - a true melee - straight up trashed. It would have been easier to just delete the whole Ascendancy ....

„We have added new sources on the passive tree to make up for it“ - This is almost always a nerf, because you know… passive points are limited.

Yeah, and look the buff for Awakened Melee Physical - Awakened Melee Physical Damage now grants “Supported Skills have 10% chance to Intimidate Enemies for 4 seconds on Hit” at gem level 5.

Muhahahhaha. They removed it in 3.15, and now they added it again. :D
This just tell you the whole picture at GGG.
They are not only wasting our time, they are wasting their time as well.
Same things with the flask.

Now mark my words in 3.17 or 3.18 Gladiator will get a complete rework, cause they simply kill it in 3.16. It's 500000% dead.

We don't have a full tree yet, but if they optimized the pathing a bit and condensed some clusters because part of the power is now in masteries, we should have some extra points.

One thing I can bet my lunch they did is take out the 'strikes hit 1 extra target' from tribal fury and put it into masteries, which is great, you aren't pigeonholed into taking that passive or anointing it. But, the question is from where you can access that mastery, melee clusters, weapon clusters, both, or maybe just specialized strike clusters, that will make or break it. Same for strike range.
Wish the armchair developers would go back to developing armchairs.

masteries arent free. they also heavily incentivise specialising in one type of nodes.

also passive tree lost A LOT of damage stuff, so you are more than ever forced to pick all that is left (alternative is to get good gear but most players cannot do that)

3.16 is even larger nerf than 3.15 but this time GGG did the PR spin well and people still believe we got defensive buffs :)
