BLOCK is now the godtier defence mechanic in POE! Spell Suppression is a MEME.

I mean lets not kid ourselves here, GGG buffed the chance to get more Spell Block and Attack Block on items, even yeeold Tempest Shield gives "huge" amount of block.. 25% reservation is nothing if Block is the only defence mechanic in the game that is actually reliable.

Dodge, removed, Evasion, a meme, SPELL SUPPRESSION a HUGE meme.. I mean seriously? 50% chance to NOT take spell damage IF you get Spell Suppression to 100% CHANCE.. its gonna be HARD to get it to 100% lol.. just get block.

Sad day for defences.. I don´t know how GGG missed how overpowered block was before.. its even more busted then ever now.

The current issue with block is that 99% block is the same as 1% block because it's still a 50/50, it either activates or does not.
Getting it to 100% sounds like it would require lots of investment and limit your builds.

Suppression isn't a 50% chance to not take spell damage, it's halving spell damage.

his point, which you misunderstood, is that block has the same fatal flaw of avoidance.

you either take zero damage or full damage.

thats good as long as you arent taking one shot level damage. once you are, its useless, because you are simply rolling the dice until you die.

that said, the changes in todays annoucement sound like they will largely solve this issue by increasing the value of smaller amounts of investment. personally i think they should have quartered them, instead of halving them, then affected the scaling to give diminishing returns, but unfortunantly, they still only give a shit about epic end game 1% players, and not the mass of players that never even see tier 5 maps.

when i get to tier 1-5 mapping and my around 1000 avoidance and 3000 armor is basically useless, but thats all i can get at that point, they have completely missed their scaling values.

I'm new to PoE but the acrobatics skill seems to partner well with spell suppression.

Btw its not how Spell Suppression works. 100% Spell Supression means it halves spell damage. So essentially this means 100% Spell Suppression equals 12.5% MAXIMUM elemental resistances (at 75 res all) and covers for Physical Spells as well!

Block is unreliable, as with all AVOIDANCE mechanics. They are good to have, but not to count on.

Suppression is VERY reliable as it offers MITIGATION which is the king of all defensive mechanics in POE. If I were to invest in one or the other, it's a no-brainer to choose suppression over block. Block is nice to have, but it really isn't "defense"
