Eldritch Battery protects your mana and not your life, also lets you spend it like mana.

That said, Eldritch Battery will still protect you if you use Mind over Matter. It will just protect your Mana from the % of damage it should take instead of Life. Mind that the "Chaos bypass ES" still applies, as well as any other rule that changes how damage interacts with ES (for example, Emperor's Vigilance)
