Lack of Poison Chance for minions in 3.15

3.15.0d Patch Notes said "In future we will reevaluate the Bleed, Poison and Ignite damage penalty for all minions as it is currently too harsh."

I hope for some changes for minion-poison builds in 3.16.


3.15 patch removed the Poison Damage Support that had 60% chance to poison enemeies on hit and replaced it with Critical Strike Affliction Support which doesn't give any % chance to poison on hit. Combining it with Lesser Poison (Chance to Poison now) that still has 40% chance, you could reach 100% chance to posion on any minion builds.

Getting 100% chance to posion is important thing, because Poison stacks infinitely and is balanced around that. Ignite and Bleed can stack only 1 time, so not having capped chance to Ignite/Bleed is completely fine on minion builds.


At this moment there are only 5 sources of posion chance that also affect minions:

- Chance to Poison support (40%)
- Grasping Mail (60%)
- United in Dream (60%)
- Severed in Sleep (60%)
- Anomalous Vicious Projectiles (10% at 20% Quality - useless gem on melee minions)

Grasping Mail is a very RNG item, collecting 60 breach rings require some time, getting that specific mod is even harder and you're obviously losing body armour slot, which is very important thing if you want to use a Unique Body Armour or other rare. United in Dream and Severed in Sleep require a cost of not beign able to use a Convoking Wand and the uniques itself are not that good and a bit rare.

Recently added Amanamu's Gaze Unique Jewel is cool but lack of posion chance on items kinda makes it unusable for minions that cannot poison by itself.


There is no chance to poison for minions on cluster jewels or skill tree. Support Gems used in poison or minion builds like Minion Damage, Melee Phys Damage, Vile Toxins, Void Manipulation, Swift Affliction, Unbound Ailments, Crit Strike Affliction, Added Chaos Damage, Deadly Ailments, Multistrike, Withering Touch. None of them adds Chance to Poison, not even their alternate quality versions. Only Anomalous Vicous Projectiles adds 10% chance at 20% quality but it's still not enough and doesn't work on Melee minions.


There was a Curse + Curse Effect stacking Poison Dancing Duo build last league and few leagues ago, using Doedre's Skin. Currently the build is dead because because both slots Weapon + Body Armour are used by build enabling uniques, therefore player is stuck at 40% chance to poison from 1 gem which makes the posion unplayable.


Poison Minion builds require new passives in skill tree or gem(s) to allow 100% chance to poison. New notables on Cluster jewels or new cluster jewel type with minion-ailment specific passives or a new unique items that doesn't take important equipments slots.

having the poison chance in the support seems like a good idea to me, i should note most of my builds are raise spectre or some other minion build with an occasional self-cast or totem build.. On many popular minion builds people have much more minions than i do to the point its enough to take up most of your screen, allowing an entire army of minions to poison would add up to a lot of damage and if you can achieve it while also getting back an entire support gem slot? thats a pretty big buff.

Sorry if it feels like im against you here.. I understand being limited on minions being able to access certain mechanics such as many of the new ranged and melee supports that were added which to me seems like a massive error in judgement when those two types of minions see almost no play anyway.

+1 to opening up minions a bit to more playstyles including deep investment into poison and other damage types.
