Please enable "cross platform" between PC and Xbox

Me and my friends want to play with my brother, but we have PCs and he has Xbox.

I think this was the original plan, and maybe it still is the eventual hope, but modern consoles have an approval process for patches and updates which just make it unrealistic.

What I'm talking about: let's say a league starts, and there's a game-breaking bug that causes players to hard crash to their desktop every single time they link Spell Echo to Fireball. On PC, GGG has absolute control over their realms and the patch state, so they can drop a hotfix within minutes of the bug being found and all is well.

On console versions of the game, GGG has to submit the hotfix to Microsoft/Sony/Whoever, get it approved, hope it gets distributed quickly, etc. So if you have cross-platform between PC and XBox, you would end up with a situation where console players aren't allowed to log in for several hours (it used to take a few days, but I think the process is faster now for live service games like POE) because console players don't have the current patch version and are getting rejected by the GGG servers.

Imagine how angry console players would be if they couldn't play on launch weekend because their console didn't have access to a 1 MB patch they needed. Now, imagine that situation repeated for every single patch and hotfix over the course of a 3-month league. And I would hope it's obvious that you can't have people playing concurrently within the same league on different versions of the game.

Keeping consoles separate from PC players allows GGG to rapidly deploy patches as soon as they're finished on PC without preventing console players from playing the game in the meantime, and allows console players to receive regular updates consisting of multiple PC micro-patches without PC players being told "yes we have a fix to the problem you keep having, but we can't let you have it until Microsoft and Sony verify the content."

It sucks that we can't have cross-platform in POE, but... I mean, blame the console companies. If MS and Sony would allow game devs to have complete control over their own games, you wouldn't have this issue in the many, many games were it surfaces.

Non issues. It's all about $ from mtxs.
What if ...?
... As long as the patches are different, the platforms stay separate.
... And when the patches were the same, the platforms would come together.

There would be some days when xbox could not play with us (PC) but there would be many more that could.

In your mind yes but not in the real world.

Taking another independent game (NMS) as an example.
It's cross platform. When an update comes out, the UWP version (XBox, Game Pass) takes about 2 days to be updated. Meanwhile, players are isolated on two servers, one updated and one with an older version. As platforms update, players go to the updated server.
Definitely good idea
I hope they will make a crossplay Pc/ps5/xbox Cause honesty you can wait 1-2 month before you can have your item and its almost a SSF and PPL try to Fix price and controle the market So its very hard to sell and Buy something ... PPL now Stay Log in Just cause they have a chance to sell the item thats why is more than more harder to sell item and buy everytime cause they all sleep WE NEED THE CROSSPLAY !

Very hard to Buy like the Cluster Or Fracture item you need With a T1 Fracture ect

We need the party board too ....

poe is about to die on console ...

And we dont have all the server on console Like me i need Etats-unis (est) But i only have washington and its near 100Ping On this country make the game really not fun to play Like Rollback Dash work like 20/50 make the game really more harder To evade attack or kill some Boss (uber)

Can just be Good To play all Together and make console player more better cause its SSF now and ppl controle market

Sorry For my English I speak french c:

Console has a way smaller playerbase thus making some items extremely rare or non existent.
To combat that we need either crossplay or increased drop rates across the board.

Increased rates is highly unlikely given where PoE is heading and so is crossplay as already mentioned.
But how about just cross market utilizing the already existing ingame trade board. Just have the cross trade feature activate 2-3 weeks into console league start so they can have a regular league start
Why not just have separate launchers for each... a console launcher and a pc launcher... that way pc players could launch the console version to play with their friends... would allow crossplay at console level and still have the ability to keep pc as the "playtesters" for new leagues and new content
