Hope they don't. All this talk of "wealth" and "value" should stay in the game... not leak out into reality. Their stance in the past has been to not allow "real" transactions to influence game assets. They even went to the point of not allowing streamers who got tips to hand out freebies to their supporters because it looked too much like RMT.

Maybe the nex-gen games will figure out how to do it correctly. Don't know.

What problem do you believe the blockchain would address?
"VPs are not required to change their posting style. They are still welcome to express their opinions and take part in any discussions they wish. Their only responsibility is to continue doing what they have always done - posting in a friendly and constructive manner."

-GGG, 2015
When an exalt currently drops for you, and you pick it up and put it in your stash, it's still GGG's exalt. A game using NFT can make you the official owner of that particular exalt which you can then trade for what ever you want... in the real world. It's not quite RMT anymore becuase you're the actually owner of the thing you're trading.

It would require an entire change in attitude from GGG and I doubt Tencent would even allow it. I'm quite sure it wouldn't make the game any better.
You don't "own" nfts in the same way one owns a copyright. The ownership only applies insofar as people respect the authority handing out the nfts.

It's exactly the same as those old scams where you can get a star named after someone, only this time with blockchain to add "new tech wow" factor. You get something written down in a company's database and it's dubious anyone will respect it after a while.

Same's true for real estate. You have a piece of paper saying that you own that house. If people stop respecting that, you will stop owning the house.

Ownership in general is a social construct.

Actually, I will probably own a bigger house if people stop respecting titles.
A lot of people would end up dead if they stopped respecting titles.

Erhm... ANYTHING is a social construct, if you take it this weay. Social Constructs are called Ethic, Morale and LAW.

And if you doubt any of this three things, well, look to the near east, wheree partially this is exactly the case.
