Why take stuff away instead of encouraging players to not use it?
Tala moana,
if GGG believes in the game being more fun or whatever when players only have 4-link damage and 2 flasks, why nerf so much instead of just releasing a manifesto trying to persuade players to only play on a 4-link and only with 2 flasks? They didn't have to 'take the game away' from a big group of players, they could have had each player choose their own preferred playstyle by themselves? So why did they choose the first option? Any thoughts? Last edited by Goldsmith2011#3708 on Aug 17, 2021, 2:05:04 PM Last bumped on Aug 18, 2021, 4:47:35 AM

because players wont nerf themselves?
it isnt about 'the game being more fun' on a 4link. the objective was to reign in player power, so that there are meaningful challenges in the current game. instead of having to come out with more and more overtuned end game. i 100% support nerfs instead of 'end game Uber boss X' 1 shot fiesta creep. i also expect some *specific* builds to get nerfed next league, along side a fair few *specific* skill buffs. there are still plenty of builds that can do endgame. you might not be instant phasing sirus/maven, or just casually offscreen killing t16 map bosses, but thats FINE and EXPECTED. |

The problem is that the difference between playing with a 4L and a 6L is too great for the developers to make content that can be shared by both styles of play. They're stuck either making a game for the people with 20mil dps or making a game for people who top out in the thousands. There's just too big of a difference.
So they're working on bringing the extremes closer together. Give them a chance. |

Players will usually use all the power available to them when they are trying to 'beat' a game. The 3 month leagues with league challenges balanced around people 'beating' the game will push many to try and take the easiest path to get there since the grind can be long.
I play D2 still and I think I see what you are saying because in that old game things don't change and I can decide to play one of the strongest builds or challenge myself with some wack off meta build or self challenge with gear etc. Like it or not (I don't like it) they want to control how long the players play the league by controlling things like how long the campaign takes, how rewarding the game is because of the trade economy and how fast players are using it to beat the game, and how long it takes to reach level 100 by making sure the player dies to things sometimes. They've designed themselves into a corner with a game that plays this fast, it's difficult to add new mechanics or depth to the gameplay at this stage, so slowing things down a bit needs to happen. We'll have to see what they do, the game doesn't need to be a slow crawl, but it does need to take a breath once in a while. Last edited by Omnicide24#7830 on Aug 17, 2021, 2:17:27 PM

They have a VISION whats player wants more hardcore game and gained too much power. So they took it back. As we can see, vision might be quite deceiving. The price is paid already.

Chris absolutely nailed it in the last Baeclast with the announcement of Hard Mode for PoE. People won't voluntarily nerf themselves so GGG should provide that service for players (ideally in a public league setting) so that everyone gets what they want. SC trade players can have their fun back, SC Hard Mode trade players can be "elite."
I think Hard Mode will attract a lot of the players who would be playing HC trade league if HC trade league actually had an economy. Since HC trade league economy is dead anyways it won't make things worse, and it's unlikely to siphon enough players out of SC trade to dent the economy there. Everybody wins. |

" You'd be wrong they already lost a majority the playerbase and there in panic mode...as pointed out by Chris. they realized this was worst move ever. Hence why it will likely be reverted and giving the ones who want a nerf it's own mode as pointed out.. You may think it was good but other 97% do not and that's a fact there isn't even a soul left in league or standard but select few thousand...hell it impacted market so bad most the big time currency sellers are all gone. Hell getting anyone sell anything as most are either gone or on standard. leagues already dead incase ya ain't noticed like real dead. most went standard but quit as well. |

" League isn't dead. I saw 2 people today. hue hue hue zzzzzzzzzz Difficulty was only one issue, the fact this game is still a pin-ball singleplayer machine on speed with only instanced progression and zero open world end is a core issue. |
