Getting one-shot and why slow gameplay can't exist yet.

Enemy monsters kill players too quickly for the game to be played like anything other than a screen-deleting experience.

This games pace will never slow down as long as monsters can kill players in fractions of a second because then it becomes a case where you must either one-shot monsters or get one-shot.

I'm a huge fan of the idea of slowing down gameplay in path of exile and I'm glad that there has been acknowledgement that these recent changes have missed the mark. I hope the dev team can find out why their changes aren't achieving anything in the way of their vision of a slower game and make more appropriate changes.

Monsters deal too much damage and there aren't enough effective options to make building defensively be worthwhile compared to building more damage.

Fast builds aren't the problem stopping the game from being a slower experience, they are just a symptom of a combat system that punishes players for building anything other than a speedy build.(by murdering them / incursions/ legions/ etc.)

I agree with everything said.

The game has to be slowed down. Monsters need less damage for that to happen. Or defenses need to go up, which is kinda the same.

I am also a fan of the game slowing down. And not like chris said: from 1500 mph to 800 mph. It needs to be slowed down to a point where fights really matter. Where hits are exchanged, and its a back and forth.

I will say it again: player recovery is the problem. If players can recover half their life in 1 second, mobs have to kill you in under 1 second.
Take away much of the recovery and transfer it to other defenses. Then reduce Monster damage.

But i am quite sure they are not going to do that. Chris said he had to justify for 30% revenue loss. His hands are tied i guess. His superiors wont let him do whats best for the game, because the community wants easy farm, easy drops, claring maps without effort.
Even tho it clearly dulls the game down, to a screen delting experience. Bland and boring.
I built a max block gladiator when it wasn't cool. Pretty tanky, not that fast, good enough damage. It was herald of agony I think.

I've been here on and off since early 2013. I stopped playing it back then because the game was slow and if I wanted a slower game I would play a better game. At that time even Titan Quest was a better game... Titan Quest is still a better game.

I have returned to PoE after some years. The atlas was live, the gameplay was a bit quicker and it was fun because playing the story over and over was not that dull.

Comparing that time with how it is now, it might be similar but the monsters are much harder now and why is that?
Because the "all mighty" had the brilliant idea of adding awakened supports so that people would stay in the game to farm them. In fact, every single league add trash to the main game.

When he noticed that the awakened supports were too powerful he had the monster difficulty become even harder. Now he nerfed the player's supports and mana and it all went downhill.

I don't consider me an expert in this game, I never got to Shaper or Elder because I always get bored before I do. I tried to killed Uber Atziri a bunch of times just to realise that one of those three guys can kill you when he's already dead and that those "replicas" from Atziri have some weird attacks that I can't seem to figure out... and the fragments to go there are not easy to find.
I killed Sirus, though... with one build only because all other were one shot in the last phase when he wasn't even in my screen... constantly.

I reckon that it's partially my fault since I like to build weird builds but that's the plus of this game, you can make the weirdest builds you could imagine... or could because you can't anymore.

I don't think that people want easy loot (I would like to have target farming unique gear from specific monsters).
In the end I think that people want a fair and faster game. At least that's what I want.

If I want a slower game, I'll be playing something better than PoE.
