"Cast On Critical" Support Changes

"Cast On Critical Strike" Support, lets talk.

A lot of these "Cast On" supports can make for interesting builds, given the nature of the prerequisites needed to cast them. But it seems that a lot of these are in favor of Attacks Only.

Specifically, "Cast On Critical Strike" Support.

This Support gem should be changed so that it not only uses attacks to cast spells, but to also allow spells on critical strike to cast an additional spell as well.

This is brought to my attention, as I was working on a build combining Vortex Crits to cast Wintertide Brand. As I find the synergy to be favorable. But to my forgetfulness, I missed that "Cast On Critical Strike" Support only works for Attacks.

In honesty, I'm surprised "Cast On Critical Strike" Support doesnt work with Spells too. I tried to think of balancing issues, and the only thing I could think of that is possibly OP; is combining it with Poet's Pen.

The Team Leads should consider having "Cast On Critical Strike" Support work with all types, not just attacks.

There isnt much support for Spells when it comes to notable triggerable actions, outside "Cast On Channel" Support; which is to specific and limiting to synergetic spell types.

I hope I am not the only one that wants to see "Cast On Critical Strike" Support work with Spells too.

I imagine it's important for the game to know what exactly happens when the spell goes off. So, if it can't know which spell is triggered and which is the triggeree we might get an infinite loop, which is probably bad, as fun as that would be. In all other trigger setups it's clearly defined which is which.

On the UI side, I imagine that if they have a modifier like 'triggered spells cost less mana/do more damage' or something, they wouldn't be able to show us any of that on the tooltip even if it was possible for the effect to work when using it.

Also, there's a balance problem, CoC builds by and large don't attempt to scale the damage of the attack that's triggering the spells, as that's a wasted investment most of the time, it's just a carrier for the spells. So, if the trigger is also a spell, you'd be able to scale its damage the same way as the triggered spells, so if all spells have compatible supports you would be getting much more damage than now, which would potentially be broken. So, they would have to put a damage penalty on the gem instead of the bonus it has now, and that would make the setup much weaker when triggered with attacks.

So, I'm against, I'd sooner suggest a sequencer gem or something that would allow us to cast multiple spells with one cast, if you really want something of the sort. That would certainly be possible, and pretty easy to balance.
Wish the armchair developers would go back to developing armchairs.
