Max graphics memory usage, all the time

When being in game my graphics memory and GPU is maxed out, even when in the menu. Please see images. However as you can see from the performance graph, the game isn't using anywhere near the amount of memory.

Can you help? I don't really like my GPU running at 100% for no reason at all!

Many thanks!

I will assume this is your first time using msi afterburner, and you have little to no knowledge of what exactly it is you are looking at, i am however baffled that instead of doing at least the minimum research as to what it is you are seeing, your first notion was to run to PoE forums and post in tech support...god forbid you start messing with the settings in that thing, you can brick your video card.

1.Your GPU is not running at 100%
2.That second number is not your GPU, it's vram speed, thats your GPU memory, not the actual core, and whenever you have any 3D application, or any application that uses vram running, it will run at full tilt, it's supposed to be like that. It's not your GPU usage, it's your not even your GPU memory usage, it's the speed at which vram is running.
No rest for the wicked.
Wow, thank you for your ever so helpful and sarcastic as fuck response to my issue. I apologies for not working in the graphics industry or having details knowledge and getting the naming conventions of all graphical processing correct.

To what you have said, I'm afraid to tell you, you're wrong. I have literally opened up Factorio and the practise tool in League of Legends and the VRAM speed, as you ever so kindly pointed out, is still running at a lower speed than when I am in the FUCKING MENU OF PATH OF EXILE and causing the temperature of my GPU to run up to 80oC....when with a game of league of legends open and factorio my GPU is happily sitting at 40oC.

And thanks for you concern with me 'messing with settings' in that thing...I don't intend to do so...

But really appreciate your helpful response, thank you for proving people on the internet can be helpful.

This was the results of my temp read outs from about 10 minutes of having two games open...

After having the poe MENU open for 2 minutes

Because PoE is instantly loading assets into your vram.
Games like factorio use sprites, not even sure if they are cached in drive, let alone vram.

Occurred only after Expedition Launch.

Read my post and others there. Turn Lighting Setting to Shadows (default) not Shadows and Global Illumination. Then Turn V-Sync On.

This seems to help... but I hope Devs address the issue as well.

Thank you, this seems to have helped! I am now running around 55c. Appreciate your help!

why use vysnc isntead of just limit the fps with the limter slides? why introduce more lag when the the fps dips ?.... vysnc is shit and always have only useage of it is if you are having some stupid ammount of tearing otherwise stay away from vsync and just use the limit sliders either in-game or in nvidia/radeon driver instead

and for the people that just happen to not know how vsync works is that if you have 60fps and it dips by litterly 1 fps down to 59 vysnc will then lower the Hz rate to 30 makeing everything feel even slower...

seems to be a fix in this post about lowering texture qulity to medium and it will unload memory that is not in use anymore instead of just hogging everything due the Vulcan API seems to bug out

Because speed and usage is the same thing....yep.
OP has a problem with his vram...working.
You post a solution for bad memory dumps under vulcan.
Both have nothing to do with each other.

well the post says usage though not speed but checking what speccs that 2080 super has

Base Clock
1650 MHz

Boost Clock
1815 MHz

Memory Clock
1937 MHz x4 = 7748MHz(how OC programs counts)

then would mean that factorio and LoL doesnt put the card in P0 state aka full performance mode while Path of exile does since 1937Mhz = effective clock of 7748MHz in MSI afterburner or any other OC program since you take the speed x4 to get the effective speed and as MSI afterburner shows 7700MHz with path even path is not even maxing the vram either its only doing about 1925MHz but the useage is due Vulkan not dumping the Vram and as i posted if swapping to Medium textures its starting to dump it as it supposed to its just the the optimzation done with this patch made it so Vulkan is using even more of the GPU then before since i have the same experience on my 1070TI

but on the issue with the card going high temps is that he most likely has no cap on the FPS so the card goes full bore pushing prolly 150-200+ fps or so and im guessing he has a 60Hz monitor due he got down to 55c when he switched on Vsync since it pretty much halfed the ammount of fps the card was pushing i only wrote the stuffa bout vsync becuase its a bad option to use if not having tearing problems since it induce input lag so it better to use the in-game or nvidia control panel to limit the fps instead to not get the drawback from vsync
