Explanation of Performance metirics. Help with performance.

When you press F1 in game it brings up performance metrics. Can someone please explain what they all mean? What does MS mean (as in CpU or GPU MS)? What is the white line on the graph (seems to be for server but isn't labelled).?
How can I improve my performance? I get stutter/lag (whatever you may call it, the action freezes) when a large amount of mobs appear quickly or lots of action happening (most of my excavation encounters, heists, or other encounters with large amount of enemies). -My CPU MS and GPU MS are always below 25 until I get a stutter/lag on screen where all the metrics spikes for a split second, too fast for me to see to what number even when keenly watching the numbers. CPU and GPU MS are almost always within 6-10 of each other, GPU being higher. CPUs number changes more often. -The latency MS is always between 30 and 50 (until a spike). -For Memory there is no number, but my bar sits around 25% of full. -The frame MS is usually in the teens, doesn't usually go above 40 (until a spike). -The shader bar , if I'm standing still will mostly sit at zero, when I move around it changes wildly, going up and down all the time. -My frame I haven't seen the number of it fall below 40fps (though it obviously goes lower during a stutter. In options I have foreground and background capped to 120. Target framerate set to 46. Dynamic culling off, dynamic resolution on. Would you guys say it's an issue with my hardware, with the game, or the internet? Thanks for any and all help! Last bumped on Aug 19, 2021, 10:42:58 AM

1. Gpu and Cpu ms can be googled, basically the lower the number the better. It's essentially miliseconds for cpu to complete...a thing, well not really but kinda, if you don't understand it, all you have to know is that the lower the number the better, if it spikes, it essentially means that your cpu takes longer than normal to complete a task, which causes stutters, which indicates a problem with hardware, either a bottleneck or lack of performance.
2. Latency is your actual internet connection, more specifically the latency number indicates the time it takes for your end to speak and get spoken back by the game server's end in miliseconds, while 30-50 ms is perfectly fine, game graphs don't usually report dirty connections - basically wireless connections, which are usually the end of all discussions when someone complains of poor internet performance, because wifi is a nono for gaming, meaning the game might report perfectly acceptable ms while in reality you have constant micro interrupts. 3. Memory is exactly as written, it's ram usage, a/i how much of your system's ram is used by the game. 4. Frame MS is basically the time in milliseconds it took for your pc to draw the last frame, it's not FPS, it's the actual time your pc took to prepare, and draw a frame. You can see that number spike if you are playing in windowed mode and have set low FPS when game is not in focus, the moment you will press your windows key, that number will shoot up. That being said, 40 is not good, and can cause visual input delay. 5. Shader bar is an indicator for when the game is caching shaders, it will constantly jump around, what you don't want is for it to hand for too long. I'd say it's hardware, more specifically either your gpu or cpu. Normally when you make this kind of topic, you want to include dxdiag. Just because it's a f2p title, does not mean it can run on anything. No rest for the wicked.

Daiena, thank you so much for your detailed response! Super helpful! I ran the DXDIAG tool and saved all. There is no way to attach files on this forum though (that I know of, let me know if there's a way). Should I copy and paste it all into a post, or just copy certain sections?

Also, I did suspect it was a hardware problem, too. The CPU and GPU are 10 years old. My internet is good and I have a wired connection. It would be good to know if I should replace the GPU or CPU (or both) and what other components need upgrading.

Paste the dxdiag info under Spoiler tag to avoid a wall of text.
e/g
dxdiag
Walloftext copy pasted
[ spoiler = dxdiag ] WallofText copy pasted [ /spoiler ] No rest for the wicked.

" Kinda answered your own question.. CPU requires a motherboard change, which may also be a RAM change if a PC that old is on DDR3 (hopefully not). GPU can slot in fine. And an SSD (if you're still using an HDD, I pity you). Basically, the entire computer.. (and hopefully it's not a laptop, because that would mean your hardware is even more underpowered than I'm expecting.) If only you upgraded that thing before the shortages started. It's basically impossible to get any GPU from the last 2 generations (~5 years) right now, and even if you can, the prices of everything are insane. Even buying used is overpriced. I don't mean to sound rude, but I can't help the way people interpret my words.

Okay, here's the DxDiag. You didn't tell me what sections to post, and it was over 50,000 characters so I cut these sections: Preferred Media Foundation Transforms, Display Devices,System Devices. If you need to see any of those, let me know and I'll post them. Thanks.

Nothing really jumps out as the problem child.
My guess is the same as the above poster, your hardware is just outdated. It's not about getting new GPU or CPU. It's essentially cascade. There is really nothing you can upgrade without committing to a brand new system. And as it was said, building a new system right now is kinda expensive even for lower end, because GPUs are scarce and the market for them has essentially crashed, and will remain that way for at least this year. However, if you want to, what you can do is get started. Yes your video card is really dated, but it's a PCIe card, they are all compatible with any PCIe slot, so you can get a new motherboard, ram, cpu, and power supply, and then slowly go from there. Your video card will work fine in any new motherboard, whatever drives you have, will work fine as well. And with the current prices of video cards, considering the amount of cash you'd have to shell out for any decent low/mid range card, you can get a perfectly decent system going. I mean here is a link of essentials you need for a new systems, everything else you should have, and is compatible, that's your pc case, storage, monitor, mouse keyboard and pc case. And those components, especially the power supply, will last you for years to come. Eventually you can get a decent m.2 or sata ssd, and get your self whatever GPU you can afford. No rest for the wicked. Last edited by Daiena#7638 on Aug 2, 2021, 10:05:47 AM

The 2600 is dated. I would suggest at least a 3600. PoE has far better behaviour with a 3600.

Thank you, Daiena and plandream. How come a new power supply? I have a 750 W already, and I haven't had issue with it (that I know of anyways). Also, why new RAM, isn't all RAM the same, and isn't 16GB plenty? Not saying you are wrong at all (you know far more bout this stuff than me), just want to know why. Thanks again!
