Expedition Mobs Completely Immune to Damage
|
Do you guys actually think its fun that we have to sit there and read each of the nodes in an Expedition closely to ensure we are not linking some combo of nodes together that will make mobs completely immune to damage?
I just did an expedition that had 2 cold immune nodes, 1 immune to freeze / chill and 1 where I could not crit on mobs.... Essentially I can't do shit with this expedition because my build will not be able to do ANY DAMAGE to these mobs. How do you guys think this shit is okay? " I rather expect that they've [the devs] made the - completely reasonable - assumption that you, as a player, will carefully consider your choices and not willingly select a series of mods that render your opponents totally invulnerable to your damage. " I... have so many questions here... Do you stop and re-read the things you write? Would you take this tone, or say this to someone you met on the street? Do you believe it is acceptable to vent and cuss at people for your own oversight? If so, why do you feel that way? |

" Because you literally choose the modifiers. No one is forcing you to maximise your juice... there's plenty of juice in the other Remnants. Need game info? Check out the Wiki at: https://www.poewiki.net/

you also don't HAVE to do every expedition! That's entirely an option.
If the particular modifiers are all ridiculous, skip it and do the next one in 2 minutes. It's also perfectly acceptable to pop tons of remnants and chests while activating only ONE remnant. There is basically zero chance every single modifier would nullify your whole build. In fact, this is sometimes the most valuable way to run expeditions since you can unearth practically every runic or chest that you couldn't do if you went for 3-4 remnants. For example, I just ran an expedition with 4 useless difficulty-increasing remnants and 1 runic monster stacked deck remant. I pop the stacked deck one and unearth every single runic monster and walk away with 6 stacked decks and a bunch of league currency. Not too shabby (for a lvl 62). Also easy af because there was just a single modifier on the monsters. I personally do think its fun to have league content that isn't BRAINLESS and requires you to do a minute of reading and planning. Having the ability to control your own loot, challenge level, and benefits rather than having them randomly decided for you is amazing. Last edited by jsuslak313#7615 on Jul 29, 2021, 11:08:17 PM

That's like grabbing an item in the store then proceed to the register and be surprised that you had to bring money to pay for the item. Then you even yell at the person behind the counter for being unreasonable. The price was listed, you just failed to read.

I'm 100% certain they made the mods harsh so you are indeed forced to read what they are. They probably want you to "interact" with the mechanic in a way other than pressing a button and killing things.
Personally I don't like it. It messes with the groove of mapping to have to stop and consider things. This is what I didn't like about ritual too; I spent an unreasonable amount of time doing a packing problem to optimize returns instead of, ya know, killing things. Same deal here. I don't want to stop and think; I want to go brain dead mode and be in the "zone" while mapping. Logbooks are better since it's not an interruption and the decisions are more impactful. Getting a few mods for the map version of the expedition encounters gives you fairly meh returns, whereas the dozen+ chains in logbooks are more rewarding of your effort. Украина в моём сердце

im really against this idea of immunities, i dunno why they have added this into the game. i just think theres no call for it under any circumstance. i get that ur not supposed to ever fight something thats immune to ur damage, but surely we can do like 90% resist? my feeling is you dont add a perma immune mob ever, just on the principal of it, feels wrong as a concept.
maybe its just me, i just see immunities and just flat out wanna say no on principal instantly. I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :)

" I suspect they're prepping us for PoE II - or using the players in Beta-League to test the reaction. I notice they're giving us a whole lot of gems sockets, and I suspect it isn't so we can set up 9 six-link damage supports for one skill. They want us to branch out. Immune monsters will force the issue. Last edited by Sabranic_SilverDeth#2793 on Jul 29, 2021, 11:54:25 PM

I am full physical - max block SST bleed gladiator. I have read the nodes several times and didnt see where things could go immune to physical and sometimes they are still immune.... This just bricked one of my expedition logs and I'm pissed. And of course, to answer your question, its not fun to have this happen. It's very unfun. I skipped last league bc I do every now and again bc the game gets boring. I maybe should have skipped this league too.
