High ping on EU servers, mostly during nighttime
|
Both today and yesterday, I've been experiencing high latency when playing on the Frankfurt servers. It was mostly fine during the day/evening, but around ~1AM today, and midnight yesterday my ping would start jumping between ~50-60 and 150+, the game is basically unplayable like this.
I ran WinMTR on the instance I was in, here's the result: ![]() If I'm reading it right, the latency occurs because of the servers that end in "t-ipconnect.de", which belong to a german ISP. Is there any way for me to work around this? Anything I can solve on my end, or is it just an issue with the server provider the game uses? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I would hit up your ISP about that, provide them with the report showing the issues. You can also try using a VPN in the meantime, as it may allow you to bypass those problematic hops.

The issue is packet loss beginning on hop #2, which should be when traffic first reaches your ISP.
It’d be worth contacting them to ask if they’ve been performing maintenance or upgrades. While you can show them the image, in future it would be preferable to use the Copy Text to clipboard button. Thank you, although that seems a bit strange since I have 0 issues in other games, but if it does end up being on my ISP's end, I'm very unlikely to get any help from them, so I'll just have to give up on PoE until it's fixed.

" Just because you don't have issues with any other games means literally nothing. Different servers are located in different areas and the traffic to those servers takes a different route. Also, the netcode for said games is different and handles packet loss/latency differently. Ordinarily I’d suggest a power cycle, but that wouldn’t be expected to fix something that only happens at certain times. Could someone using the same connection be hitting it hard, e.g. torrenting?

" I don't think so, no other devices are/were connected to the network when I had this issue, I checked through the router's online interface (plus the only one that could've been heavily using it other than me didn't have anything running because he was asleep). Nothing on my PC is using the network in a major way either (according to windows anyways), so you are probably right that it's on the ISP's end, I'll just message/call their support next week. |
