In 3.15 a Skill Point has more Power then a Level 20 Skill Gem.....

Uhhh, yeah...but no. It still has more DoT. It just lost the more spell damage.

Not really as it still has more damage over time on it so it still better for DOTs than the skill node. Plus for duration having both is better.

How the hell did you take the time to photoshop the wiki description of the gem and not see that it also has more damage over time multiplier.
