Totem life calculation?

Does anyone have up-to-date information on how this works? With totem supports is it based on the level of the skill gem or the support? If its based on the level of the skill, how much would Empower increase its max life?
(The wiki says basically nothing about this, and a google search of the subject gives results that are years old and in some cases conflicting.)

Try Path of Building, it should have the correct calculation for that.

Afaik the wiki has the correct numbers too, with monster level corresponding to the level requirement of the gem; may or may not require adjusting for 45% less life.

Ohhh, the totem's level equals the skill requirement for the gem. Thanks for clearing that up.
