Question about Mastermind of Discord
If I use Wave of Conviction in a Cast When Damage Taken setup, will the triggered WOC proc the effects in Mastermind of Discord or does WOC have to be self cast?

You will not have used Wave of Conviction, but its exposure will still be inflicted by you.
Mastermind of Discord would not work if WoC was used by totems, traps, or mines, or if you were using minions with Elemental Army. |

" Exposure you inflict applies an extra -25% to the affected Resistance Regenerate 1% of Mana per second if you've inflicted Exposure Recently I believe it just requires the exposure to come from the player themselves, not necessarily a skill they use. In other words, I believe a WoC procced by a Trigger like CWC or CWDT should still count as "you" (unless I've missed something like "triggered skills are considered as used by the skill gem and not by the player" or something like that I'd have some doubts with triggers from equipment (for example, Asenath's chant, Kitava's Thirst, Replica Maloney's Mechanism) EDIT: sorry, read it again. Only my last doubts remain, but I guess it's just situational Last edited by Maxtrux#0762 on Jul 14, 2021, 10:37:37 AM

the situation with "you" and and on hit/kill effects with proxies is surprisingly simple:
all the proxies except minions use your hits now, if the on-kill/hit effect is about to grant something to the player (Life, charges, EO, any buff etc) then it will not work with proxies. If it does something to an enemy (apply curse, EE, exposure) then it will work with proxies perfectly fine triggered hits also count as your hits so everything should work unless the wording contains "using a skill" which refers to activating a skill manually --- Mastermind of discord: everything will be able to grant exposure related benefits from it (proxies, triggers), except minions IGN: Eric_Lindros CET: Timezone Last edited by Ludvator#6587 on Jul 14, 2021, 2:48:28 PM

" Yep, the "'you' keyword" logic is a red herring. "You" isn't a keyword in the sense people commonly think it is. Elemental Equilibrium is the classic example - it affects with Totems, Traps, and Mines just fine despite clearly saying "Enemies you hit." The real, confirmed logic from GGG/Mark_GGG himself is whether or not a modifier is something that applies to your skill or not, because Totems, Traps, and Mines (and any other proxies) "use your Skills." X% increased maximum Life? Skills don't have Life; Life is not a property of your Skills. Y% increased Damage? Your Skills certainly deal Damage, so Totems, Traps, and Mines (which use your Skills) get the benefit of that. The more important "keyword" to watch out for, like Ludvator writes, is "use a Skill" or "cast a Spell." These exclude triggers because triggers aren't you using a skill. I haven't chimed in on this thread before because in my experience certain "proc" type modifiers are unclear as to whether they apply to your Skills or not. I seem to recall some "on Kill" modifiers aren't attached to Skills, possibly Profane Bloom? (the Occultist Curse corpse explosion thing), so I wasn't sure if Mastermind of Discord fell into that category, so wanted to test before posting. I still haven't tested, but if I were a betting man, I'd support Ludvator's conclusion (works with everything but minions, basically), not any of the previous posts. Need game info? thanks guys.
I was able to prove it works with CWDT by just watching my mana regen change in the tool tip after the WOC is triggered. I have also read elsewhere that everything except minions will proc Mastermind of Discord. |
