Exile back from 2013

Hello everyone, I came back from 2013, and I'm extremely confused, thank you for someone to guide me a little if possible.

My skill tree has been reset (dont know why), and I can not even remember my build name to have some clues to continue my adventure, someone can check on my profile pls?
Im missing skill gems from slots, and i dont know if is related with the skill reset.
The game seems to have changed a bit, i dont know if even i done the true endgame at that time, but i can remember that i had 2 nice builds;

on Marauder the build was around hiting with the hammer with auras and blast everything; on Shadow was about speed, and hitting the daggers and create a lot of AoE with eletricity.

I have a ton of nice feelings and memories back on that days, almost a decade passed and i didnt even finished this masterpiece.

The skill tree is revised in every single new big patch so it is not unusual to be reset completely. 2.6 skill tree is very different from 3.14 tree for example

Have you heard Shaper? It is not a end game boss now

I don't think 1.0 build is still relevant in POE 3.X

There is still some classic build such as Cyclone or RF but the support gem setup is very very different now

I suggest starting a new character and playing the game like you are playing the first time. This game has always had a lot of replay value. Long term players have started hundreds or even thousands of characters.

The game changes with every league. It changes even more with expansions. In a couple weeks we will have both a new expansion and new league. Any character you start in Ultimatum League will migrate to Standard (I think the date is July 19). You can still start in Ultimatum though. The character won't change when it migrates. So you can keep playing it.

I think trying to recover characters that old will be difficult. If you knew the current game and knew exactly what you wanted to do, then you could maybe respec your characters and make them usable. But you would probably need different gear.

The game itself has changed a LOT since you played. In 2013 I think there were only two (or 3?) acts. Now there are ten acts before you get to maps. So you have never seen most of the content before maps.

Just play the game with new characters and enjoy it. Because of power creep the lower levels of the game are a lot easier now than before. What they've done is add a lot of difficult content at higher levels for people who want to do it. But most of the game is easier now.

Because so much has changed from 1.0.0 until now, I highly recommend rethinking your characters from scratch (albeit with the same overall concept, sure) rather than trying to remember what your build was back then. Almost certainly there are ways to do what your build was in the past, but better.

Marauder: They nerfed aura-stacking being viable on every character archetype; I wouldn't recommend aura-stacking on Marauder anymore (although it is theoretically possible, I'd admit). Thoughts on this:
  • hit with the hammer and blast everything -> GGG has supported this playstyle with the "Slam" tag, Note that Slam builds are best optimised by pressing multiple buttons, which may no longer be your preferred playstyle. Seismic Cry + Intimidating Cry (maybe + curse) and then slam the enemies for massive damage
  • I haven't done much aura-stacking personally but I know that it involves getting a LOT of reduced reservation %. Note that "Reduced Mana Support" no longer exists; it has been replaced with "Inspiration Support" which reduces mana costs but not reservation (so doesn't help with aura stacking). There is the rather expensive Enlighten gem which has max level 3 (max level 4 with corruption) that has a mana multiplier and this works with reservation. If you want mana stacking on Marauder you will almost certainly want to Anoint (Enchant aka add an implicit-like modifier that grants a passive from the skill tree) an Amulet with Charisma. Enlighten 4 and Charisma anoint are both quite expensive (will take a lot of Chaos Orbs/Exalted Orbs to buy them off other players/very rare to self-farm). I believe Templar -> Guardian Ascendancy is the preferred class for aura-stacking now.

Shadow: I don't think you can get the same AoE with "electricity" nowadays, as they changed Static Strike from an AOE skill to an arcing skill. That said, Shadow hitting enemies with daggers fast to fill the screen with electricity is definitely still viable.
  • Lightning Strike, Static Strike, and Charged Dash are all nice Lightning Attack skills you could use. Lightning Strike is projectile, Static Strike is arcing, and Charged Dash is AOE (though I don't think you can scale it to the same kind of AOE levels as old Static Strike).
  • The two Shadow's Ascendancy Classes you'd probably be interested in are Assassin and Trickster. Trickster is the more speedy/defensive class; Assassin is the more offence-oriented class (though also gets a fair amount of speed if you take the Elusive node). At first I was thinking Assassin for you since Tricksters usually scale DOT or channelling for offence, and Static Strike is neither DOT nor Channelling. However if you pick Charged Dash, you can probably make full use of Trickster still.

Thank you both for the responses.
Well,i will need to find nice and "cheap builds" to start my adventure again, and set all socketed and skilled, and most probably my gear stats will suck for everything. Hard work ahead.
What you recommend for marauder or shadow? Wre i can find sweet builds and guides about this game? tnks

I thought he might be talking about Infernal Blow which was popular at one time.

If you check your gear carefully may be you can sell it for a lot.

e.g. legacy base (item that have implicit altered), legacy unique (item that have mod changed or nerfed), legacy gem (IIQ gem)

That's a real good idea to check your gear for legacy stuff. You played in beta and some of that legacy stuff is VERY valuable. It's more than just gear that can be valuable.

For example
https://www.pathofexile.com/trade/search/Standard/rPQrHQ

and

https://www.pathofexile.com/trade/search/Standard/yppgsR

I would recommend that you don't sell ANYTHING until you check if it has legacy value. Also don't use currency on them until you check them out. Some orbs will update the item and ruin it's legacy value. Some legacy items have value because of the art rather than the stats or mods.

Probably the majority of unique items you have are legacy. Some may have value and others not.
You may not need or want this for the first characters you level after coming back, but in my opinion the elephant in the room is Path of Building, which is the most comprehensive character planning tool that takes care of a lot of things that used to require spreadsheets. It is maintained by the community rather than officially so not everything is supported, but almost everything.

Again, you might want to just play on your own or roughly follow a guide first (although those will usually also include an exported PoB build so you can closely inspect how it works), but you will almost definitely want to use PoB later in the future. So even if you do not use it right away, it does not hurt to know about it or have it installed.

If you ever find yourself looking for specific help or criticism for your characters, sharing an exported Path of Building code (usually shortened with Pastebin which only requires an extra click in PoB) will be the most convenient option for others to check your character.
