Game Closing on Startup
Details: So as of today (have been playing all league with no problems), I went to open my Path of Exile. I use steam client. It did it's initial startup, bringing up the grey screen and PoE cursor, but never makes it to the spinning gears or GGG screen. It immediately closes within seconds of opening.
Things I've already tried - Released IP and Renewed IP - Flushed DNS - Uninstalled and removed files - Reinstalled - Verified Integrity of files - Checked Firewall settings and made sure PoE had the correct permissions. - Rebooted computer multiple times - Also checked to see if other Steam games had the same problem. They all open and play with no problems. - EDIT: Also, not getting any error messages + it shows open in Task Manager for only a split second and disappears as soon as the opening grey screen stops running. It is still doing the same thing. The game will open only briefly to the initial grey screen and cursor, but close before the spinning gears even pop up. Can't even get to the realm selection or character selection. Last edited by Exiled_Magus#4771 on Jul 2, 2021, 3:07:29 PM Last bumped on Jul 2, 2021, 5:46:31 PM

Not that I know of. I have it setup to ask when I receive windows updates and haven't had any in the past few weeks.
Unless windows has some sort of auto updates that I am unaware of, then no. |

UPDATE:
Just tried restore system to previous date. It did not fix the problem. All other games (D3, WoW, Grim Dawn, Neverwinter, Paladins, Dungeons & Dragons Online, etc) work perfectly fine. It is still only PoE that will not open. |

Ok, so I finally got if fixed. In one area on Windows Firewall & Defender, Path of Exile was allowed so that it wasn't blocked, which had always seemed to do the trick.
However, I ended up having to go into Settings and search through the "Updates and Security" to find and add a separate "Exclusion" for the entire PoE file folder. Now it is opening right up. Was very strange though, considering nothing had changed from yesterday to today. So if anyone has similar issues with PoE on windows 10 try this fix. Settings > Update & Security > Search "Exclude folders from being indexed">Add and excluded folder > Path of Exile |
