Ball Lightning Miner Not Leeching with Light Eater

Just as the title says, I am not leeching any ES after allocating Light Eater. I'm not sure what is going on at all. I'm, level 72 and melting things, but the lack of leech is making some situations a little hairy. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Mines and traps can't leech.

Then, why does every Ball lightning miner build run Light Eater? I am using High Impact Mine Support if that makes a difference.

Nothing makes a difference--they can't leech. Even if they could, the leech would be directed to them and not you (as with totems and minions). But life, ES, etc aren't relevant to them in any way, so leech is simply ignored.

As for why builds would still use it, you can still get ES leech from a self-cast secondary skill.

Are they using Machina Mitts? Or perhaps dealing damage via self-cast spells?

I also just checked the top 10 on poe.ninja...no one had Light Eater.

That must be the answer then. I guess it just forces me to use Wave of Conviction for the the leech. Thanks for the replies! This is my first time trying a miner.

Ah yeah, forgot all about Machina Mitts. Had one pair numerous leagues ago when I last played a miner and poofed them in the Temple.

I suspect the reason for the T10 not using it is because they are always optimized for maximum DPS, which comes at the cost of defensive nodes like Light Eater. I have checked 6 different guides, and they all run Light Eater.

The answer was just that I needed to use Wave of Conviction to trigger the leech. It works really well, but that wasn't mentione din any guides, so i was a little lost as a miner noob.

Most of the time on a miner you either die or you dont so you dont need leech

But i think they nerfed miner regen so idk maybe you do now?
