Not gaining XP

Earlier today I hit level 53, about 41% of the way through I recall, then I noticed I had gone back to 53 (0%). I have been playing on and have gained 0xp.

Has your character died since reaching level 53? Is it in part 2 of the storyline? Once you reach part 2, your character will lose 5% experience on death.

OK then. Yes I die routinely. I wasn't aware of that. Thanks for letting me know.

Zones also have experience penalties if you are too high or too low level.

1-15 = ±3
16-31 = ±4
32-47 = ±5
48-63 = ±6
64-79 = ±7
80-95 = ±8
96-100 = ±9

At level 53 that means you can do any zone levels 47-59 before starting to suffer an exp penalty. That's roughly the second half of Act 6 - the first half of Act 8.
