Seems like Einhar wants to form a duo for the Grand Arena combat
Hi,
Wanted to share it because it surprised me, I am currently farming for new stuff in lower lvl areas because I need to update my equipement, and then Einhar showed up and told me he wanted to take the fights with me in the Grand Arena of Theopolis. I like this, it's like having a follower to help me farm faster. ![]() EDIT : So the final creatures to capture were inside the corridors, that surprised me more than before : ![]() Duriel, Lord of Sorrow My allmighty Trading Topic : https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/3197346 Friends converted to PoE : 8 (including 2 in 2021 !) Einhar was a first attempt to create a "companion", as in an immortal non-party member non-minion character that aids you with auras and actual fighting. Heist is its fine-tuning, adding the whole "companion equip" thing in order to further tailor your companion's usefulness.
Einhar will not leave your side until all of the beasts in the area are captured. This way, you can willingfully miss to catch one of them and carry him with you towards a very difficult battle for a free aura and a free (albeit relatively low) DPS helper. There is also a certain Region in the Atlas whose tree will disable Einhar from stop following you when his mission ends, and will also give a boost on his damage against Rare and Uniques. Yes, you can have Einhar blasting off Veritania's arse while taking zero damage from her icy storm. What a time to be alive. |

Alva in the temple predates Einhar. I like how your not teathered to your help like you are in the Diablo series.
Oops! Wrong! Alva came after Einhar. Memory is the second thing to go, I guess. Last edited by Shagsbeard#3964 on Jun 15, 2021, 8:31:19 AM

" Actually, you are not wrong. While Alva came after Einhar, Einhar was not introduced like he is now. Back in Bestiary, he just popped out from his portal after you captured a beast with a Net (originally, YOU were the one who needed to capture the beast, and you had to be careful not to kill it in the process - which caused enough disgrunt to create Necromancy Nets for the DPS lovers). Alva was, actually, THE first attempt to make a companion that occasionally cast a boost (alva's blessing) and taunted enemies in attacking her (immortality is a plus). Thank you Shags EDIT: if we actually want to be very specific, the very first attempt to make a companion was in Darkshrine, where with the right item and some luck you could summon an Immortal Grandmaster to join you for the whole area where you were in. Darkshrine was an event, though. |

Will he write a mighty poem about it though?

" Now you learn something to me. That's interesting, because I always thought he stopped following when we leave the area/group of areas where the beasts to hunt belong to. I will investigate this further. For Heist, I think it's a great addition, I like the concept of thieves guild being pulled into the game universe. The companions are all very well designed in my mind, GGG, as always, did a fantastic job. For the debate about who's been the first attempt to create a companion, unfortunately, I have had many phases since the beginning of the game. I've missed a lot of the leagues and must catch up so many things. Lately I've been doing Delve things (Azurite Mine for those who might be in my case) and Delirium Mirrors that appear from time to time in areas. Bestiary now I know, and I find it great. Merge beasts to create item is a really good concept. So many pieces of info even though I was just posting this to make people smile. This community is so cool ! " Oh I'm sure he will. I may even assist him on this task. Or I will be food. Duriel, Lord of Sorrow

Out of all 3.0 + NPCs Einhar is the most useful one.
Even more with Atlas passives. Gives good buffs and does respectable damage for an companion. I spawn him in maps with deadly mods and bosses as support/distraction. Way more utility than the other ,more cosmetic, NPC companions. Masterpiece of 3.16 lore
