Ways to increase chaos damage?

Havn't been able to locate any passives that boost chaos damage. Are there any? If I recall elemental damage doesn't effect chaos damage.

Quality Added Chaos increases chaos damage.
Redbeaks have "Increased Damage", which affects all types including chaos.

Separately, if you're talking about the chaos damage from poison arrow clouds, viper strike charges, or the poisonous hit from Mortem or the Adder's Touch passive, this is degeneration, not Damage (with a capital D) and is not affected by increased damage passives.

The only way to increase degeneration damage is to lower their resists if possible (and there are no sources of negative chaos resist) or to increase the damage they take from damage over time effects (via Vulnerability).

In the case of Viper Strike and Poison Arrow, "+X skill levels to gems" magical affixes will heavily increase their base damage.
Thanks man. I was indeed talking about viper strike, so sounds like I need highest quality gem I can get and + to melee damage.

Now if I only knew how the new melee support gems handled viper strike charges.

I soooo hope they spread with the splash gem, but i'm sadly assuming splash melee gem just deals a portion of your damage as splash and applies none of the original skills effects.

What about shock? I'm not sure here, but shouldn't it work as well?

It does, but only in that it is an "all damage" increase. It doesn't specifically increased Chaos damage on a permanent or reliably applicable basis.

Yes, that will increase both damage and degeneration damage by 1.4x/1.8x/2.2x with shock stacks.

Is to increase its duration with an increase duration support gem, there are also some passives that influence this.
Thanks! so sounds like I need a +level weapon, and link it with added light damage, increased duration, and one of the new melee gems.

These 3 passives are extremely important if you're going for a Viper Strike or Poison Arrow build (or Dominating Blow, for that matter).

Past that, the best possible sword would be a 1.7 base foil with +1 all skills, +2 melee skills (both prefixes) and 27% aspd (suffix), and the ideal supports would be something like Viper Strike + Faster Attacks + Increased Duration (since the sword is a 3L).


EDIT:
If you're going for shock stacks, the least painful way to do it would be cleave + eleprolif + qual added lightning, and pick up static blows as well. Tempest Shield is likewise interesting.
