Does multiple projectile hit the same target or not?

I am having this debate with a friend about whether or not multiple projectiles can hit the same target.

Any projectile spell/attack with GMP support can hit the same target if you stand close enough? I don't think it's always the case but sometimes I feel it does. Can someone confirm this?

I am enjoying Ice Golem but I focus on using Icy Barrage. Sometimes I see the icicles hitting the same target a lot and sometimes I feel most of the icicles just pass through it. I don't know if it's the positioning of Ice Golem or not. I feel sometimes Icicles pass through (missed) because they stand too close??

Any idea?

The the projectiles have AOE and the AOE overlaps, yes. If not, no.

The term for that is "shotgunning". Projectile skills were changed way back in the 2.0.0 release to no longer shotgun:

As Shagsbeard says, the closest you can come to shotgunning now is to have multiple overlapping damage areas.

So if the projectile spell has an "aoe" component, then multiple aoe can overlap.


Do you know how Icy Barrage works? Sometimes it hits a lot on a target and sometimes it doesn't. I can't really tell.

Can 5 projectiles from icy Barrage hit the same target??

Oh...so it used to "shotgun". I took a 2 years break and came back recently.

I don't know how sometimes Icy Barrage can hit the same target a lot and sometimes it seems like most projectiles just pass through.

So if Icy Barrage has no "aoe" component, that means the most a target can take is 2 icy projectile (since I use Spell echo)?? I see most projectile "passing through" against Bosses.

I have tried Icy Barrage without GMP and with GMP. I feel damage is higher with GMP even though GMP cuts my raw damage by 20%?? Why is that? Single target damage should be a lot higher if I am not using GMP?

Icy Barrage casts 4 "separate" times or it's considered one cast?

I know Spell echo Ice Golem is not common and that's why I like it. I just want to know more about it. The game doesn't show damage numbers and icy barrage has lower damage per projectile so it's quite hard to tell if each projectile stacks or not. :((

LOL Ice Golem is so unpopular that people don't even know what Icy Barrage is? You can call it Icicles or whatnot.


So the most hits from Icy Barrage spell echo on a single target is 8 times right?

Why do most people use GMP and not Less MP support which has less penalty?
