Secrets of Suffering Question

So I was looking at Secrets of Suffering and I was wondering if I'm understand this right.

If I crit using Ball Lightning it would cause: Scorch, Brittle, and Sapped:

Scorch will then lower affected target to have their Elemental Resistances (including lightning resistant) based on fire damaged. If my lightning deals no fire damage will it still lower lightning resist?

I don't think it will but lets said I have "add fire damage" would it lower resist and by how much if its only something tiny like +12?

Same question with Brittle how good is it?

Your hits will winflict Scorch, Brittle and Sap as long they inflict the correct elemental damage. It's not a "Conflux", which gives all hits the ability to deliver that specific ailment.
So, your BL will just inflict Sap, per se.

Of course, if you added some fire damage to your BL, your BL will also be capable of inflicting Scorch, lowering their elemental resistances. At that point, however, I think the effect your Scorch will yield should be far lesser than what you can achieve way more easier by just plain Shocking them. Do remember that the same "If it is too weak, it will not apply ailment" rule of Chill, Freeze and Shock still applies to Scorch, Brittle and Sap. So, don't expect you can pull it out by, say, just giving it some fire damage via a single Hypnotic Abyssal Jewel.

Can't say for Brittle, must still get a feeling on how better is build "chance to receive a Critical Hit" against plain CritChance

It literally says: Critical Strikes inflict Scorch, Brittle and Sapped on the keystone

Though yeah... 12 extra fire/cold will most likely ne too weak so it will do nothing, shame.

That wording only means that your critical hits will apply those ailments provided its damage is capable of doing so. Were it to work as you believe, the wording would be:

Critical Strikes inflict Scorch, Brittle and Sapped
All damage from your critical hits can Scorch
All damage from your critical hits can Brittle
All damage from your critical hits can Sap

In a similiar fashion of Hexblast's wording

Technically speaking, all your critical hits inflict Ignite, Chill, Freeze and Shock by default. You actually will inflict those ailments, however, if your damage is capable of doing so in the first place. For example, you critical hits will inflict Chill if you crit with a cold-damage Ice Spear, or brutality-supported Heavy Strike while wielding Soul Taker (since now your physical damage can chill).
