Dual Wield Physical Damage/Lifesteal build? Preferably Axes.
|
I'm new to the game, have been doing a lot of reading here but there are a TON of threads to sift through.
I really want to create a dual wielding Berserker type of Marauder with Blood Magic, life steal, and mostly physical damage. Wondering if anyone knows a link or forum thread to a similar build? Or any type of suggestions for me. Can this be done and still be Viable at the higher levels? What type of stats do I need to focus on? Appreciate any advice/help :) |

I have this type of ranger. Can use swords or axes with my current skills, but my best weapons so far are swords.
You get your life steal from gear basically. It will be gear dependent as any melee character is. And there are lots of ways you can build it. Here is my ranger's build at lvl 58. So instead of blood magic passive, I use the blood magic gem, it allows me to run percentage auras on my mana, and flat ones on hp if I feel the need. Also frees up gear so I don't need mana leech on gear, although I can change this at any point in time if I find some good pieces that have mana leech, I just had to ditch it in order to equip better gear. Goal is high physical dps weapons, really all you care about on the weapon. so add the bottom and top damage numbers then multiply it by the speed. My current weapons. As for damage mitigation you can go after high armor, or run grace and evasion gear and use iron reflexes, or be a risk taker and run evasion. DW nodes that are a must, Dervish. That's about it, you can get more block, or all kinds of other things. My final build includes a little more hp, block and damage nodes that yield 10-12% counting all nodes and averaging. WIth the option of more crit, although it's point intensive, and RT as a marauder is close and yields a dps boost, and keeps you leeching life by always hitting. Although crits are nice, wish it was easier to include them, having a little elemental damage is nice for status effects on crits, but you can live without it unless you go a full on elemental dw build, which then you would have to run a life leech gem. You'll basically want life on all your gear, but with a big focus on hitting max resists, as marauder you can get a 5% to all elemental resists node that will be extremely nice to be able to handle ele mobs. After that you can get damage stats, but ultimately staying alive in this game is key. |

Thanks for the reply. So far I've gone blood magic, but I'm very interested in Aura's so maybe I'll look into getting blood magic gems, Blood magic is easy enough to spec out of.

This is my first character so I'm not entirely sure if I'm doing things correctly. If you or anyone could give any pointers that'd be great. I've been looking into this build http://www.hackslashrepeat.com/threads/dual-wield-axe-marauder-a-k-a-the-auraxer.2192/ but He specs into Vaal Pact, and from what I've been reading it seems like something most people avoid? I'd like to be as viable as possible on merc level, so not sure how well this guide would do. |

I've used vaal pact, though it can be fun, it made the game infinitely harder to progress. However that character was one of my fastest docks farmers, or farming any mobs that are relatively easy and has a high amount of mobs. When it came to maps, vaal pact didn't cut it.
I think your spec is off to a good start, I assume you are getting golems blood next? and into duelist area for dervish and acceleration? Couple pathing choices I would do different in templar and marauder area, and you have 1 stray point. But otherwise looking good. edit: I'll be more specific, snag heart of the gladiator at minimum. and think about pathing through the reduced critical nodes and drop some stat nodes, or go through the armor area and drop 2 stat nodes.
