MAPS NOT DROPPING
|
I've had this issue before, but having done over 20 mpas, maps from bosses are not dropping, or if they do drop, maps are several tiers below the tier of the current map.
Had no issues until I reached Awakening level 4. Previously when I had this problem unsocketing and resocketing my watchstones seemed to help. Doesn't seem to work now. I have 107 out of 164 bonus objectives achieved, so there should be a 7% chance for maps to drop two tier higher. It's become impossible to progress further. On a side note, when I do a Zana quest, the boss within the Zana map seems to drop a map, and a map of the proper tier. Last bumped on Apr 27, 2021, 8:16:39 PM

I think I figured out why maps are not dropping. GGG has a system in place that if you die too many times in a map, the game will drop lower tier maps to prevent the player from playing maps too difficult for them or from rushing to the endgame.
Playing in a mid-tier map without dying dropped higher tier maps. Playing in a high tier map after dying several times dropped low tier maps. GGG will probably neither confirm or deny this since knowing the way how the game drops maps might allow people to game the system. |

I always find that the drop rate on high reds slows down at AL4. But part of your problem is this.
" You can drop any tier showing in the atlas. If you have a lot of tiers showing, you can drop a lot of tiers. If you only have, for example, t1-4 and t14-16, you should drop mostly t14-16. Manipulate your stones for this. Last edited by GreyLensman#5323 on Apr 25, 2021, 7:10:28 AM

" Thanks for the reply. Quadrants are socketed with 4 stones, so it should be dropping all possible map tiers. I'm on tier 12 maps, but bosses are still either dropping tier 9 or 10 or nothing. Really frustrating. Tried unsocketing my stones and resocketing but that trick isn't working. Getting ready to quit. Not being able to progress is not fun. |

"I'm not following you. If ALL regions are socketed with 4 stones, then you cannot be dropping t9 or 10. "Need to know more about what you did. This could mean anything. If you are dropping t9 and 10, then you must either have some corner regions with 1 stone, or inner regions with 2 stones. That's getting in the way of your goal. If you want to build up a good pool of t12 to 14 maps, put 3 stones in each corner region and 0 stones in each inner region. Then run your t12 maps. You will not see any maps from t5 to t10. You might see a t11; there are a few in the corners at 3 stones if you have completed them. You should see very few t1-4 because the odds of dropping those from a t12 are low. And if the loot table rolls a t5-10, because it can't actually give you one, it will give you a bonus toward your next map, which will likely be a t12-13. " Yeah, this is not a thing. Nice tinfoil hat though. Follow GL's advice, he is really good with the watchstones and Atlas explanations, like seriously good. ~ Please separate the PoE1 and PoE2 forums.

" Thank you, I'll give that a try. I did not have any region with 1 or 2 or 3 stones. I had 4 stones in quadrants to reach awaking 4 and the leftover stones in the stone holding pen. But yeah, tier 13 maps would still only drop tier 5-10. Seemed to be in only certain quadrants though. Driving me a little crazy trying to figure out the reasoning for why maps are either not dropping or dropping lower. Had no issues last league. |

" Scaling the difficulty of a game according to a player's ability is a thing some game developers do to engage the player better. For example, if you're on your last life, the game will automatically scale down the damage of enemies. I wouldn't be surprised if GGG had something hidden implemented. That may be one reason why they won't discuss the mechanics of drops. Here's an interesting article about the subject: https://www.goliath.com/gaming/14-hidden-video-game-design-tricks-that-will-blow-your-mind/ |

You can get t1-5 and t14-16 from that atlas config, but low-tier maps should be roughly 15-20% with a decent sample.
If you ran one t14 and dropped a t3 from the boss, that's just rng. Your stone config is giving you a good chance to drop t14+; it's not preventing low tier drops entirely. |
