come on ggg. dont just mod the post explain what happened. what breaks a 6 link in this game? i want to know all the ways. nothing used to break it what changed?

Orb of Binding says right on it that the item will have at most 4 links (it really should just "say exactly 4 links" -- no one will expect it to make a 1h weapon in a 4L).

You can also break 6L with the bench

6L aren't some kind of special unchangeable thing, GGG was just nice enough to make it so that we can't roll over a 6S with jewelers or 6L with fusings. (Note that this wasn't always the case--back in the day, you *could* just roll over a 6L).

They are not special in any other way.
