WASD movement is a MUST option to include and ANY game post 2000

To argue that inclusion of WASD movement would hurt game value in any way is ignorant...

Anyone saying that mouse movement is better or more necessary is ignorant...

Devs have intentionally made this game difficult/annoying to play...

Turning a blind eye to potential customer requests in favor of the few people in the current community is a poor business strategy, and they're leave a lot of money on the table that could have went toward the sequel.

The launch of the new season was so bad that I had many friends refusing to play, stating that the devs are so terrible that they would rather play Realms Of Arkania, and actually downloaded it!

I played this to level 2 and started looking for controller emulators, but stopped after I realized that Diablo 3 was still a thing.

The layer one mechanics of this game are so bad, that you can barely afford to keep servers running...

In short, anyone defending mouse movement in 2021, would probably be celebrating their 50th birthday soon. Its time to expand your market, you can either adapt to the times or be forgotten like Alpha Protocol. You should be ashamed.

I'll probably get that emulator just to do a run, but this game is on such shaky ground with server ques and disconnects, I might just give up.

no it is not and PoE is a living proof of that.

Some of us way more than that.

Since you've made it to level 2 in your first week, and clearly aren't liking the game, Diable 3 sounds like a great idea.

Cheers!

These replies are an absolute joke...

Defending the decision to not include wasd movement is short sighted at best. At this point in time, refusing to include simple mechanics as an option, is literally land locking this game to such a small market share that they can barely keep the server running.

If you can't see the effects of poor dev decisions on a daily basis, you're either intentionally turning a blind eye, or haven't played an RPG since 1990 until you stumbled on this pile and assumed that keeping mouse movement was superior for no other reason than, "its an ARPG".

Dragon age was/is a drastically better game for little other reason than wasd movement.
... Was my last post that strong?
I guess it was...

Currently playing game to at least leave a review on other sites.

Right now it looks like the game is designed to spam 1-5 and Q-T, I could see how it would be difficult to spam keys while also moving with the same hand, unless you had a multi button mouse.

So the game is designed for people that can't afford a $30 mouse? I suspect someone playing PC games as a serious hobby would have one anyway.
wasd is shit in a game like this, diablo doesnt have it either, basically none of the iso arpgs do. theres too few directions possible and too many other keys that need pressed.

a twin stick joypad setup is great for this sort of thing. the devs are aware of that, they have console versions of the game you would probably be better off playing. the thing there is that you dont have a separate cursor to target locations with as freely as a mouse can, so you have to do directional fire with the other stick. this means ground targeted skills have to be reworked to fire at a set distance, rather than where the mouse is. its a complete rework of the way the game plays which results in needing different skill balances, monster balances etc, which i believe they have done on the controlled based platforms the game is available on.

if you are fairly hardwired into wasd type control methods u can do what i do, which is i think the closest ur gonna get it to 'feeling right'. set your skill keys to wasdf, then put force move (the little feet skill icon) on W.

the way this sorts is you hold down W to 'drive' the character, its like the walk forward button ur always expecting it to be in a wasd setup. this will always walk ur character towards ur mouse cursor of course, with the qasdfer space shift ctrl keys usually used with these hand positions being used for all the skills/postions/inventories etc. you then have your 2 main 'shoot' skills on mouse 1 and 2 which again feels natural to a wasd minded player.
I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :)
ARPGs don't rely on WASD. ARPGs have ALWAYS relied on mouse movement. Shooters rely on WASD & have since the 1980s (IBM PC).

This is was the only helpful reply, everyone else was just defending terrible dev decisions and are basically writing the check that allows them to continue to ruin what might have been an OK enough game.
