Question about soulrend and poison

if i cast soul rend and it has a chance to poison... would the poison dmg be based off the initial direct projectile damage, or the debuff that soulrend applies, or both??

The poison would scale off the base damage from the hit. Soulrend's debuff only applies to its own DoT.
I have a pretty good sense of humor. I'm not German.
