Squishy builds viable?
|
Hey, I've looked at a lot of characters to find which abilities look the most fun, i've currently played up to A5. I play hardcore league.
With all that said, I want to pick a build I will enjoy and not one that is meta, and elemental hit deadeye is the one i enjoy because its not too flashy and i can still see whats happening on the map. And so my question is, are squishy characters doomed in HC, as in are their unavoidable attacks that would take out a squishy player on either bosses or anything else? And if so are there any defensive options I can choose to be tanky enough to survive the unavoidable damage and only be hit by predictable abilities? Thanks Last bumped on Mar 3, 2021, 8:56:57 PM

"in theory everything is unavoidable, but in reality you will eventually die unless you have VERY solid defenses. And even then you will probably die unless you avoid unnecessary risks and play cautiously. A typical bow deadeye is 100% doomed in hc Last edited by jewdas12#5648 on Mar 3, 2021, 4:56:48 AM

Generally speaking you would be pretty doomed on a squishy deadeye. You could run blue maps to make sure you get small mob packs and roll for no damage mods but even then a ranger without some forms of hard mitigation will die eventually.

Check what people who use the same class are doing in HC, then proceed with your idea.

Squishy characters are viable if your intention is to get oneshot.
You can avoid a lot of incoming damage by good positioning. But even then you'll eventually get hit and probably die from that. |

I play Ice Shot Pathfinder with 3.5k hp and ~1mil Ice Shot dps, and I'd say I die as rare as with any character I played so far, except for the immortal aura stacker I played in Heist.
Of course, Cast on Death + Portal is essential for mapping, in specially for deliriums, where mobs don't always die instantly. I get one shot every 10 maps or so, but that's not an issue for me. Last edited by 6_din_49#4066 on Mar 3, 2021, 5:44:37 AM

"It's not that I wont have no mitigation, i mean ill pick up some health and defense nodes in skill tree, i mean it wont be a "tanky" build by its nature of being a deadeye. |

"There isnt much info on this build I simply like the playstyle and aesthetic and from what I read deadeye are very squishy by their nature and that bow builds in particular are not recommended for HC. Last edited by keithdthompson#0764 on Mar 3, 2021, 5:38:49 AM

You could always find a friend to play a support build with you?
You would still want to get as much defence as possible on your own. But an aura necromancer or guardian could make things a lot easier to survive. Plus it's a good excuse to hang out and socialize with someone. |

"So I would like to play with people regardless of what build im playing but i read mostly people in this game are focused on solo and ive asked in global if any1 wants to group for some boss or beginning a new act, never got a positive response. |
