Empower Support Gem Max level Cap

Currently I have a level 3 Empower Support gem in a bow which has +1 to level of socketed gems. Hence the gem tool tip shows level 4 empower, which then adds +3 to level of the CA skill gem.

So if I buy a level 4 Empower, will I get level 5 Empower with +4 to the CA gem skill level? Or is Empower capped at level 4 max (+3 to level)? I don't want to waste currency buying Empower level 4 if it won't do anything to my CA gem.

No cap, you can have an Empower 4 with a +4 on your weapon, so an empower 8. It works.
