[Steam] "Updating configuration..." message when launching game, then stops running.
|
As the title says, when I try to launch the game (mainly through Steam, but I've tried the standalone client too), Steam gives me an "Updating configuration..." message, then Steam acts as if I never launched the game in the first place. I've checked Task Manager, and it seems that when I click Play, the Steam process disappears, but it's still running. There is no process for Path of Exile according to Task Manager (and this is the case with the standalone client as well).
Things I've tried from various threads on the forums, Reddit threads, you name it: - Changing the Production_config.ini file. - Deleting all files from the My Games\Path of Exile folder (steam_autocloud.vdf appears whenever I hit the Play button). - Uninstalling and reinstalling the game. - Verifying the integrity of game files through Steam. - Updating my graphics drivers to the latest version. - Restarting my computer. I just want to play my characters again and try the new League. D: Thank you in advance for any and all solutions! Edit: Forgot to post my DxDiag. Here it is. https://pastebin.com/78ah9u3U Last edited by Phiarlan#7611 on Feb 18, 2021, 10:55:50 PM Last bumped on Apr 5, 2021, 2:23:28 PM

Hi there,
I took a peek at the DXDiag you posted. I wanted to double check something with you; can you confirm what version of Windows your computer is currently using? According to your DXDiag, it is reporting that you are on Windows Ver. 2004. The latest is 20H2. You can confirm this by going to Settings > System > About and then scroll all the way to the bottom. Sometimes, Windows will report being 'up-to-date' when that may not be the case. Let us know what you find! | |
" Hi there! Updating my Windows to 20H2 seems to have fixed the problem. I don't know why my Windows wasn't updated to that in the first place (I suppose Windows falsely assumed it was up-to-date?), but I've rectified that problem. Thank you very much! :D |
