POESESSID & risks related to sharing it

Greetings,

I see more and more content creators advocating for external tools such as 'Chaos Recipe Enhancer'. The issue is that external tools such as this one ask for your POESESSID. And for what i ve read about it giving someone your POESESSID is the same than giving them the full control over your account.

So i m wondering what is GGG position regarding any external tool asking for your POESESSID?

Please remember that 3 party tools that "interact" with the client software can get you banned.
Also GGG doesn't answer account related questions like this via the forum, so you will need to e-mail them directly for this.

This is why having a clear answer from GGG regarding such tools feels mandatory. Content creators such as Path of Matth or Von Vikton are promotting this tool for exemple. And both them and the dev behind Chaos Recipe Enhancer say that this tool doesn't break any rule and won't get you banned. But even if this is true it doesn't change anything regarding the security concern.

sadly this doesn't change GGG's company policy. E-mail them and you will see.

Greetings!

GGG usually doesn't answer those questions for any tool.

Thankfully with the POESESSID it is not possible to login into your ingame account, change password or view/change your email which are essential to do harm but it still shouldn't be shared with anybody as it can be used to buy MTX and view your purchase history.

Additionally I think all 3rd party tools are open source (if not do not use) and thus you can go inside their code and view what happens with your data (requires code understanding).

Taking a quick look at 'Chaos Recipe Enhancer' I can see that he already tried messaging GGG without success and looking at the code I can assure you that it is only used for getting your stash tabs.

As far as I noticed GGG accepts the use of POESESSID for 3rd party programs and don't disallow it (see technical support forum, even if they answer seldom).

Very informative. Thanks a lot for those clarifications, sir.

I'll make it simple then, the answer is no, no tools regardless of reason.

The reason they don't "make it clear" is because while some addons are fine and CURRENTLY within the ToS they CAN be changed to become harmful, malicious and negatively impact the game.

Not being clear just saves them a whole lot of time and money instead of dealing with the qq "but you said" shite that would follow or the idiots that would try take it to court.
