Death in ritual removed a deffered item. (Exalt)

I was mapping in t14 8 mod corrupted forking river map and died on my 4th and final ritual. I had a deferred exalt being offered that I was going to be able to afford if I was successful, but since I died I hoped to re-defer the exalt. When I opened the menu it was just gone. All the other items remained, but there was a open slot in the upper left corner of the ritual selection screen. I have the screenshot captured if that is helpful in diagnosing this issue. This was not a happy moment for me, but I do understand that these sorts of things happen so I want you to have this info to help ensure it doesn't happen to anyone else... I love PoE, but this felt bad.

As a side note I did try to log into another character as well as reboot my client to see if the item would reappear... alas it did not.

If you deferred it you should see it again eventually. I've seen people say they had deferred items disappear like that when doing Zana map rituals and then going back to the regular map.

Did you relog to another character before it disappeared? Deferred items are character-specific.

Yes, I did. It was just disconcerting that it wasn't there when I switched back. It is interesting to note however, that if what you say about deferrals is true, that when I began the map I was not on the character that I deferred the exalt on originally... it was only the fact that I swapped characters mid map that caused it to disappear.
