Disable SMT for Path of Exile to stop recent crashes.
I'm using a Ryzen 5 1600X CPU and was crashing frequently after the most recent patch.
Disabling SMT seems to stop this and I can play again! I've tested this using two separate methods. 1. Disable SMT in motherboard bios. Works but turns it off for everything. 2. Use Project Lasso. You can disable SMT just for Path of Exile process. I've seen a few people saying that in Options\Graphics turning off Engine Multithreading also fixes this. However disabling this means only ONE core will be used. Obviously this means it will force itself to use one physical core and hence disable SMT. Last bumped on Jan 30, 2021, 11:21:33 AM

This works great, and disabling SMT has no notable performance hit as well, and you can have multithreading on.
Techstop even got better performance in games when they turned SMT off. https://www.techspot.com/review/1882-ryzen-9-smt-on-vs-off/ |

Yes, well, unfortunately killing smt for poe's process alone extends my crashless window from a few seconds to a few minutes. Still crashes though.
