Single skill trinity trigger

Would you believe me if I tell you that you can max resonance with one cast of one spell against pretty much any mobs? You better believe it.
Trinity works by providing resonance points to elements other than the one that dealt maximum damage per hit, this means you need to alternate between letting two element deal the max damage. E.g. lightning (add resonance to fire and cold) and fire (lightning and cold) You gain 25 resonance per hit and lose 5 per second. Which means if you deal 2 different elemental damage per second you will keep yourself maxed. To use only one spell, you need to exploit the characteristics of lightning damage, which is that the rng is huge. Unlike cold and fire, where the min-max difference is less than two fold, most lightning skills, and added lightning damage support min-max range is 10-20 fold. This means if you have a lightning and a non-lightning damage source with similar DPS, the variability of lightning damage will make it do more damage in roughly the first instance. Add that to a multi-hit skills and voilà. Examples include ball lightning with added cold damage, and flamestorm with added lightning damage. All that's left is to adjust the damage balance of the skill, which could be done with support gems, herald skills and passive skills. My current build has a trinity supported ball lightning with added cold damage used to charge resonance, and ice spear to take advantage of the resonance to deal damage. Most of my passive skills focuses on cold damage, but with a herald of lightning it balances out. Last edited by PirateSurfer#1995 on Jan 29, 2021, 7:49:42 AM Last bumped on Jan 30, 2021, 12:03:18 PM

calm down, i know it feels excited when you can crack some mechanic in the game but any experienced player can figure out how to utilize that support gem at the first glance.
the problem here is you have to invest too much for just one support skill gem that not even better than any other support gem that needs 0 investment, also focuses on one type of damage is always better than focus on all 3 elements since it is far easier and better to scale. in short, the support is made only for some certain skills and there is no point in using it on any other skill that it doesn't make for. I'm leveling a second character doing this with blade vortex. I was planning on using elemental penetration support but then noticed that my damage ranges lined up to be able to use this with one button as a better substitute. I do agree with Ozxell though if you're trying to 'force' the skill into a one button set up you may find that you are making more sacrifices massaging your damage ranges than is worth it.

Ozxell, If you actually read till the end of the post you'll see that I'm just using this to charge up resonance, the main damage dealer is actually ice spear.
My passive specs only in cold damage. Also max charged trinity give 50% more elemental damage and elemental weakness. Please tell me one support gem that it's comparable to. Last edited by PirateSurfer#1995 on Jan 30, 2021, 4:11:15 AM

" first, if you want me to reply at least quote me, that way i will get notified from the system. to answer your question, any support will do. why? because those support does not require you to cast other spells to charge up, the DPS you lose during the charge-up period and to maintain the buff is not worth it. sure, your tooltip DPS is gonna be higher, but your actual DPS is not any higher than the normal support gems, also if you fail to maintain the buff your DPS will drop even further. don't get me wrong, i didn't try to talk you out of it if you really want to use it but there is many other ways/ better way to increase your damage if you really want to cast a secondary skill, even 4 links spell totem is better. Thats not new stuff. I am exploiting same trinity mechanic with infernal blow. 2.8 Million on tooltip DPS. Trinity support is really strong and people are sleeping on it.

Trinity is strong like the guy above says and you don't HAVE to lose dps to trigger trinity. I Triggered it with flame dash for example. Or you could trigger it with a chilling spell and then having your main dps use hypothermia or something like that to make it even more worth it to use more than one skill.
So yeah trinity is way better than people seem to think even if you actually use it on multiple skills. I mean my online gaming background is Guild Wars and League of Legends. So the notion of using multiple skills to increase damage is actually NATURAL for me and I don't resist doing it like most elite PoE players seem to resist it. |
