Bonechill Support Question

If an enemy was chilled by a stronger chill unsupported by Bonechill than the skill linked to it, does that negate the increase damage taken effect.

Essentially I'm looking at:
- Cold Snap + Bonechill
- Freezing Pulse

If my Freezing Pulse hits for > ~5% ailment threshold the chill will override my chilled ground. If I need to I can always socket EF into the mix, but I'm not yet sure if I want to remove ability to Freeze, and FP will hit many more enemies than CS on a trigger wand.

The lesser ailment should still be recorded, but it won't be in effect.

I've read that...so you're going to have to be much more clear on how it explains it. All it says is

"
If the enemy is affected by multiple sources of chill, (for example, Vortex both hits and creates a chilling area) only the strongest chill will receive the damage bonus.

That only says you cannot double down on the increased damage with a chill caused by both a hit and ground effect. My question has the stronger chill not linked to Bonechill, so it obviously cannot provide increased damage.

But as long as the target is in chilling area from your cold snap the damage bonus is applied.
As far as i know if you use 2 freezing pulses one weaker with bonechill and one stronger without bonechill overriding the weaker chill with a stronger one will also remove damage bonus because it came from the same effect but a different skill
Also base chill duration from freezing pulse is 2 seconds and trigger cooldown is 5 sec meaning you can have it up less that half the time whereas coldsnap or other chilling area tend to last longer that that and don't care about enemy chill resist/avoid
I'm not sure if you understood what I was asking, but it sounds like you answered it nevertheless. I will be using a single 6L Freezing Pulse not linked to Bonechill and a single Cold Snap linked to Bonechill in a trigger wand. In many cases FP will hit hard enough to chill in excess what the chilled ground from CS will provide, so I wanted to know if those hits would override the increased cold damage taken from Bonechill.

FP will hit many more enemies than my little AoE effect every 4+ seconds and has a good chance to freeze. I'd prefer to not socket Elemental Focus into the 6L in order to maintain the defense ailments ona late scale, but I also do not want to lose the damage permanently on bosses because they are always over chilled ground.

The game records all instances of the ailment by only applies he greatest. That way if a lesser chill with a longer duration were to be overridden by a greater chill, the lesser chill would not be deleted and resume it's effectiveness once he greater chill expired.

I want to know if Bonechill will apply damage equivilant to the greatest linked chill effect even if the active chill on the enemy is submitted by a stronger chill. If always suspected I Bonechill was not linked to the greatest chill on the enemy, then Bonechill would not provide any value.
Sorry if im talking about something else. Found few more answers hope it helps

Ah thank you! This directly answered it, an assuming taggedjc was correct it functions as I hoped, not as I thought.
