Ancestral Bond + Wave of Concixtion

Ancestral Bond make it so the player cannot deal damage. If I were to then cast WoC, will it apply exposure to both fire and lightning or no exposure at all? If it does and inhad a source of # to # cold damage to spells, could I theoretically apply a full exposure to all elemental ailments?

Wave of conviciton says "Each enemy hit is inflicted with Exposure matching the element of which they took the highest damage.", so id say no exposure at all with ancestral bond.

And (witout ancestral bond) it could only afflict one exposure at one time at all if i understand that correctly.

Highest can be all of them if they all roll same value, atleast thats how everything else with that kind of wording works.

But realisticly the chance of damage rolls for multiple elements being exactly same is extremly small.

well yea you right, like wise oak...

so in this case it should inflict fire AND light exposure if you get 25% more fire and light conversion each then? and if you would get coldconversion in the mix so each part has same proportion all tree?

Was re-reading it in GD some time ago.

If it worked as you stated, then a 0 damage Wave of Conviction would apply Cold, Lightning and Fire exposure, since you dealt 0 Fire damage, 0 Lightning damage and 0 Cold damage, so 0 is the highest.

However, the catch is that "inflicting 0 damage" doesn't have sense in game. You cannot "inflict" no damage. In order for the Exposure to be applied by WoC, you have to deal at least 1 damage of that element.

On the same tune, I'd also expect a 0 damage hit cannot Chill and Freeze an enemy if said hit comes from an Elementalist with Shaper of Winter and Shaper of Storm allocated.

yea ofc, thats the case with ancestral bond. but what without and all 3 elements equal?

Answer is (kinda) on wikia:

"
Conversion: Because the math of conversion is applied before base damage rolling, it is practically impossible to apply Exposure for more than a single element.

The implication here is that the exposure is determined by which damage rolled better. Leaving it at 50/25/25 does not mean it will always proc both Fire and Lightning Exposure.

The only case when all exposures would be applied is if that WoC has rolled exactly the same value of fire, cold and lightning damage - which is virtually impossible as stated before.

okok, then my first speculation was right after all lol

I'm just going to have to test this. Hopefully exposure applies a visual.
It doesn't apply exposure at all if you cast it yourself and have ancestral bond.
I tried it once.
You can link it to trap support and that trap Wave of Conviction will apply exposure because it actually does deal damage.
