"Gaming laptop" and "low budget" doesnt go together.

At least you have reasonable goals... you're not asking for the world.

You will not get a laptop which can endure PoE for cheap, such start from $2K.
Even the Alienware promotion "gaming" laptop was barely sufficient to run the game at 60 FPS on medium settings. Source: haz also a $2K gaming laptop that GF sometimes uses. Uploaded an awesome Exsanguinate Freeze Explosion build on the forums - https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/3508506

You are probably better off going with a desktop for gaming and laptop for other stuff.
I used to play PoE rather comfortably with a laptop that just had an 6:th gen i5 and HD graphics but that was back in 2016. PoE should still run smooth enough on a decent laptop i7 and something like 770 GTX. As for what to buy, a lot depends on where you are stationed and what sort of a budget you have. Don't go for premium boutiques (like Alienware or Origin) since they also have premium prices. There are however, more price competetive manufacturers that can give you a lot for you buck. Oh, and just so that you know: you are currently much better off with a Ryzen cpu than intel. Last edited by Cipp#2915 on Jan 10, 2021, 2:49:01 PM

GeForce Now works pretty well when you're stuck with a work laptop, since those will generally have a decent processor, RAM and an SSD. Just no GPU. My 4YO work laptop works fine with GFNow at 1080 when I'm on vacation.
If you're buying it yourself, you can get something in the $1000 to $1500 range that will work for PoE. Minimum spec-wise, I would go for an i5/i7 with 16G RAM, a 500G SSD and an RTX 2060. I imagine folks are playing on less than that, and maybe someone will weigh in, but that's a solid base spec for a gaming laptop today, and definitely available in that price range. If your budget is under $1000, I'd suggest skipping the GPU and going with GFNow. |

If you want gaming performance, just do not go with a laptop. It can't be said enough. Laptops generally have the polar opposite goal to a gaming system, value mobility over performance and boy does it show.
I'm not saying there aren't any good gaming laptops, there certainly are. But they are so expensive that you'd be wasting upwards of half your budget only for the sake of having a mobile device. Imagine what you could do with that money building a desktop PC. That alone brings a lot of value, but that doesn't even get into upgrading, which only widens the value gap between both platforms. Carry on my waypoint son, there'll be peace when maps are done.
Lay your portal gem to rest, don't you die no more. 'Cause it's a bitter sweet symphony this league. Try to make maps meet, you're a slave to the meta, then you leave. |

my gaming laptop is an asus g752vs
i7-6700hq 32gb ram gtx 1070 i play with everything high except Shadows+GI Quality on Low (Default) at 1080p plays poe just fine. normal play doesn't see me move from vsync stable 75 fps. i can get frame drops during insanely juiced maps with double/triple beyond and all that, but so does literally everyone. also delirium is stupid, but i don't use vulcan. don't use it mostly because it makes the whole game feel stuttery and only works well with delirium which i rarely do anyway. when i got this 3 years ago it was like 1700 bucks (CDN) and i imagine you could get a decent deal around 1500 to play poe just fine with newer stronger specs than mine. my temps also stay very stable with about a 60c max the reason why i went for a gaming laptop was because i didn't want to be so separated in a separate room from my family, gaming, unable to interact or supervise. also the price of GPUs and availability really make gaming laptops quite effective for their price. this cannot be understated. options like this https://www.newegg.com/fortress-gray-asus-tuf-gaming-tuf706iu-as76-gaming-entertainment/p/N82E16834235407?Item=N82E16834235407&cm_sp=Homepage_MKPL-_-P2_34-235-407-_-01102021 would suite your need completely perfectly, as long as you weren't expecting or needing to play the utmost newest games at 1440p ultra settings and all that. however a laptop like this or comparable would be absolutely fine playing poe and games that are a couple years old, like far cry 5, RDR2 etc. options like this https://www.newegg.com/black-msi-gl-series-gl75-10sfk-029-gaming-entertainment/p/N82E16834155401?Item=N82E16834155401&cm_sp=Homepage_BS-_-P4_34-155-401-_-01102021 are just extremely great value. you're not going to be able to build a desktop from SCRATCH (including monitor price, windows price, etc) that would compete very well with this price/package. keep in mind, searching for an RTX 2070 on the same site yields the cheapest options hovering around $900 alone. however when buying a laptop the #1 concern is heat. whichever laptop you're looking at buying you want to do some serious research into known issues with that laptop, specifically to do with heat. does it cool well etc? this is exactly why i chose the laptop i did for myself, because it has amazing cooling. its also 10 lbs, but i didn't care about how thin/light it was Last edited by xMustard#3403 on Jan 10, 2021, 2:58:51 PM

" You must be used to some reaaaaaaaally old and terrible hardware. Anything remotely recent will give you at least what you're asking for. I recommend not going below entry level mobile GPU's though like say the gtx 1650. Do your homework, don't expect gaming on IntelHD or 1030 kind of crap |

Try Lenovo. They have great financing options with Klarna but I wouldn't go with Katapault. But you know you are buying a laptop at a really interesting moment. So you're going to want to do some research.
If I were you I'd wait till a 30 something is released. If you can't wait. Then get a 2070/2080 super. Anyway I checked the Lenovo site and they have a ryzen processor with 1650 gpu for 875 US. But I wouldn't get that. Take a look at their Klarna financing and get something a little more future proof. And as for 'that guy' bad mouthing laptops. All I got to say is. Imagine having to play PoE in teh exact same spot and not being able to move 5 or six feet to the couch or maybe even going outside and catching a cool breeze just imagine that oh wait... hehehe GOT EM Last edited by BearCares#6660 on Jan 11, 2021, 2:34:38 AM
