Critical Strike concerning spells
I have been plaing for about 8 months or so and have been learning quite a bit about gamne mechanics. I am uncertain how critical strike effects spell damage.
I have seen increased critical strike for attacks, increased critical strike for spells, increased critical strike chance and Global crit chance. The crit multiplier is easy to understand but how exactly do the differen crit chance mods work? Obviously the attack one would not apply to spells but what about the other crit chance mods? How exactly does this work? Last bumped on Jan 8, 2021, 10:16:13 AM

the short answer is .... it depends.
it depends on the source of 'increased critical strike chance'. If its on the passive tree, it applies to spells. if its on non weapons, (such as a diamond ring implicit) it applies to spells if its on a weapon, it needs to say GLOBAL/spells to apply to spells. Examples: the bow does not say global, so both of those mods apply directly to the weapon, giving it 9.4% crit chance (in blue, so you know it's been affected by a mod). the implicit on the dagger says global, and the crit chance of the dagger is 6.5%, in white (unmodified). there is an additional "crit to spells" mod also on the dagger. these would be added together, giving you a total of nearly 140% increased spell crit just from that dagger. " Thank you. Would the mods on the dagger would apply to spell skills regardless of where they are socketed? It seems as though they would. Concerning the bow scenario............If the spell skill gems were socketed into the bow would the bow mods apply to the spell skill? Thanks again |

" the mods on the dagger apply to any spell your character uses, regardless of where it is socketed. the mods on the bow will NEVER apply to a spell, because they are not spell mods. There are very few mods that care where the gem is socketed. and they will always state something like : this one has 2 mods that only affect gems socketed in the helm.
