Does anyone run PoE on a external SSD?

Anyone else did this and had issues?

So about a week ago I moved the entire PoE folder (game and all) from my laptop's internal SSD to my external SSD, in the hopes of avoiding computer crashes due to memory and saving space. Sounds like a win/ win right?

However, ever since I did within the first few mins of starting the game it acts weird. It'll crash suddenly when you try going to an area, but run somewhat smooth after you relog. Being that the game itself is somewhere around 30 gigs,

I thought it'd make more sense to put the game on a external drive but it still has memory crashes if I don't use Norton Utility Manager to clean the ram every 30 mins or so. If anyone has any ideas about memory issues I'm open and listening

EDIT - FYI it's not my internet (fiber optic connection with almost 1 gig speed) and I have a decent graphics card (NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 TI) and game setting is on Directx11

Did you actually install the game to the SSD, or just moved files?

If you run POE via Steam, you need to add the SSD directory to the "Steam Library Folders" list, then install the game.

I moved the files and added the shortcut to the desktop. It runs directly off the external SSD when I click the game via shortcut.

Try installing the game directly to SSD, in case some references to game files got corrupted. Maybe some features are using the install path instead of relative path to the game's executable.

You cant move this type of game just like that. Why do you think the game will run better on eSSD? How did you connect external SSD because the speed can be really slow in some cases.

I thought it'd run better by not having as much memory issues and I connected it through usb port. The game is slow/buggy/crashing the first time I open it but it's fine once it stays running. Takes 3 or so mins to get stable but it's still very annoying. Debating on if I should switch it back to internal; seeing as my memory issues didn't seem to make a difference.

How about you install the game correctly to that external SSD, before jumping to conclusions?
