High Templar Venarius - Cortex complete but no challenge element completion?

Hi everyone,
I'm currently on 35 challenges complete and 3/4 challenge elements complete on "Complete Deadly Encounters". Last week I completed the Cortex map but I did not receive the challenge element completion for killing "High Templar Venarius in the Cortext". I received Offering to the Serpent (Synthesised) when the last boss died. My understanding was that Venarius is part of the encounter Cortex or am I missing something? Are you sure it's not a Replica Cortex?
