Tempering orbs are just a huge trap

I can't begin to express my confusion with the design choice of these things. We are supposed to be getting ready for poe2, where so many problems get addressed, like not having to link your gear. Instead we get this league and the tempering orb with it. This thing cost around 10 exalt on trade heist at the moment, has a gigantic diluted pool of enchants to make sure you don't get anything useful,and to top it off it has an icredibly high chance to break a six link. Why is that? How did we go from getting promised not having to link gear, to getting new currency that helps brick linked gear. And why does it even mess with links? Not a single enchantment has anything to do with links, just sockets.This is the point in the league where I am seeing so many people finishing their gear and want to get that little extra bit of stats for their build, and everyone I see using these things is just disgusted in the outcomes and wasted currency.

Looks to me like they're designed as a "start here" type of thing, rather than a finishing touch to an item.

You can use as a finishing touch currency. Just you need to burn a lot and then fix the sockets

fwiw, these are going core, which hints strongly that the Harvest weapon/armour "alternate effects of quality" enchant recipes will not be making a comeback.

That said, you CAN reroll the enchant, so the bricking is relative to your budget. As we've seen however, the weighted outcomes for these mean you WILL wind up essentially bricking some things, as the "fix" is locked behind a steep RNG wall.

At 10 ex a pop, it's not worth trying to repair a bricked target, you're pouring good money after bad. Decide ahead of time which items are expendable but would vastly improve with any of a majority of enchants. Set a limit how many tempers you burn.

Heist enchant have nothing to do with Harvest enchant...despite Harvest enchant seems too easy to get

Not a single enchantment has anything to do with links, just sockets.
There are "all sockets are linked" enchants. I'm not sure if six links break because it removes this enchant, or if it does regardless of enchants though, never really tried it.
Using them in league seems like a waste compared to buying an existing base with the enchant you are looking for.

I assume most of the demand, and hence the price, is from people planning to use them on existing standard mirror tier items.

people have reported that even some the enchantment involve socket color, they reroll the socket as well, effectively delete the 6L

Also , there are enchantment that cap your socket to 3 max....also del your 6L

people craft it on unique as a special topping as well.

While on base it is RNG to have high ilvl, right enchantment and right end game base.

Also Grand Heist has area level i83?

Unless people selling brick by mass buying base and use the orb once on every base (thus creating a lot of brick and one or two good), you can't really find what you need at the market
