logging in and playing path of exile
hello
i play alot of games. i also played path of exile a few years ago. i would like to return and play path of exile again with my friend. there are no problems. i have my account, password, e-mail, all the correct information you need to log onto an account on any platform/game AND on to my email so there should be no problem at all, normally... the thing is though, path of exile can't be normal, or like a normal game/platform, where you can normally type in your account name and password, and normally login, and normally play the game... no, with path of exile, you have to login, only to be forced to login using a totally different platform (steam, epic games, etc) to then be forced to verify that you want to use that platform, through your outlook. moving onto outlook... so i have an old outlook account which is linked to this account, and i can perfectly login to that outlook account, no problems. however, i'm stuck on a screen where i have to text or call my old number that's gone for years, to get a verify code and to get onto my mails. now we all know microsoft, like facebook and google, love to collect asmuch personal information as possible to sell that information to spy companies... so they can't help themselfs, and i can't get onto my mails due to that reason. but because i can't get onto my mails because of microsoft's greed and gluttony, i can't verify that i want to login using a different platform which i'm forced to do, to then log in to path of exile. because that's how it works, apparently. anyways help would be great. if not, i'll gladly delete this game again because demented mechanics like this remind me why i quit in the first place. thank you. " This is not correct. If you have a normal PoE account (made at the PoE website), you can log into the website with ONLY your username AND password without anything else. The same goes for the PoE Standalone client. However as part of the client security system, you PoE client login is IP protected meaning that is they system detects that a login is being made from a new IP it will then softlock your account and send a unlock code to the e-mail connected to the account. So if you don't want that to happend, either talk to your ISP and get a static IP or e-mail GGG support and ask for this security system to be disabled in your account. So to make is plain, error 40 IS NOT a TECH ISSUE. " Again another error 40 on your part. You have selected an e-mail provider and forgot to maintain your security information with that provider. This has nothing to do with GGG but you and only you. But again you have options --> you can e-mail GGG support and ask for the e-mail connected to your account to be changed. " 10-4. :) |

you completely missed my point and if i have to explain it even more simple then i'd have to draw an explanation in the form of a children's cartoon, thank you.
anyways, to the people misunderstanding, i'll repeat: that i am not able to go onto my mail is on microsoft, not ggg. however, if it wasn't for this demented way to log in and play, there wouldn't be a need to get onto my mail in the first place. what's next? my social security number and a mugshot? i can perfectly play literally every game other game and i have never had an issue like this. changing the email isn't going to solve this either because to change your email you need to go on to your email. |

" and again you just that you don't understand PoE account security. You don't need access to you e-mail to change it. Like I clearly wrote, GGG support can do that for you if you can prove you are the account owner (GGG support will ask you questions that you have to answer corectly). Also, like I clearly wrote, you don't need anything else then your account e-unsername + password to login to the PoE client. The only thing you need is to e-mail GGG support (after you change your e-mail) and ask for the IP security system to be disabled. After that, you will never have to use anything else then the normal username and password to login. So get this sorted and you are good to go. If you don't want this, then just do the other thing you said you would do. PS.: Do you need me to draw "something" for you to understand this?? :=) Last edited by HanSoloDK#4843 on Oct 31, 2020, 3:53:01 PM
