Curse on hit

So i got a corrupt on a pair of gloves that says "curse enemies with despair on hit, with 40% increased effect"
What level does the despair i inflict with the gloves have? is it level 1 despair, level 20? another?
Thanks in advance.

I was wondering the same thing. Before the change it said which level it was, now it doesnt.

For example:

Before the change:
Curse enemies with level 15 flamability on hit. (so it gives -39% fire res)

After the change:
Curse enemies with flamability on hit, with 20% increased effect (so how much fire res does it reduce??)

GGG made a change and didnt give any explanation or atleast i didnt find one.

Was digging around on the wiki the other day to try and find some info on various new curse oddities myself. Each 4% increased effect seems to represent 1 level. So in the OP's case, it's lvl 10 Despair as seen here.

good find. Tho i feel a bit bitter. Game mechanics change and no information is being comunicated. So typical of them.

I think that’s most likely. Arcane Surge functions the same way where non-gem sources apply a level 1. I’m almost positive there is another buff that functions the same way, but I cannot recall which.
Wasn't it already discussed in another thread?
By the way, when a map or an item "curse player/monster with [curse_name] without clearly state a level (like, say, Soul Mantle), it's the Level 1 version. The increased effect has the final result to give "virtual" levels to those "inherent curses", as aggromagnet stated, and I expect it's meant to counter the "build up 100% reduced curse effect to become uncursable" behaviour from some builds.
It is level 1 curse + fixed curse effectiveness

You can't really compare to self curse gem level as self curse gain Doom which has a variable curse effectiveness over time
